There's a 2016 Double Cab Flex Fuel for sale near me at a decent price, but I was wondering about the Flex Fuel? Is it worse than a normal 5.7 or the same? What kind of damage could have been done if the previous owners ran E85? Thanks for your help on this!

I don’t have a ton of expertise to offer you but I unknowingly purchased a used 2016 flex fuel about a year ago with ~25k mi. It’s now at 43k mi with no problems. We do not have flex fuel in this part of the country, and I use only ethanol-free funny enough (which only comes in 93 octane here).

I was a little bummed when I realized what I had done. But I think the majority of Tundras in that era are FF, hard to avoid.

There are tons of threads on FF if you search it. There’s the extended crank service bulletin for starters.

Done use E85 and you won't have any problems providing its running right I personally would be more concerned with a cam tower leak.

I have a 2016 flex fuel that I purchased new. I have about 65000 miles on it now and it is perfectly fine. I have always used regular gasoline. I have never used E85. However, since the engine was built to run E85, using it will not damage the engine. As someone else mentioned, mine does not have the cam tower leak.
