Carbon Fiber Driveshaft Group buy

Greetings Everyone,
Just came acrosss another members post on FB group boosted tundras:
The skinny: It looks like a piece of art, shed nearly 15lbs, rated for 10k rpms and 4k ftlbs of torque. Roughly $2600 to make. In the process to finding out if a group buy can lighten the cost.. would take a month to make from what I'm told for now. Please post any interest or questions and I'll keep in contact with the owner. Thanks!

 

No offense but that’s a waste of money for these trucks. If you were chasing an ET for racing that would be one thing but there are way better avenues for stronger than stock driveshafts that aren’t $2600.

 

This is for folks interested in a group buy that are serious about improving performance. If you aren't interested move along and make post with your better driveshaft that you find. Thanks

I pretty much posted what was said on the post. I've attached more photos and my conversation with the owner on the post itself.

 

I'd have to agree that carbon fiber drive shafts are for racing and not off-roading. Unless you're racing off-road I guess. I would be worried about a rock kicking up and cracking the drive shaft.

 

Looks good, I assume there will be 4WD and 2WD options? Since I bought one of those useless 2WD trucks...

You wouldn’t have been spamming your way to 50 posts just so you can sell some driveshafts would you?

Actually this thread is now for us to troll at our leisure until it gets deleted.

 

• I've got a truck not known for being the fastest, yet i want to look like I can be while overpaying.
• I've got an option to drop 15 #'s off my drive shaft...don't worry about my fatass in the driver's seat
• I've got options to buy better products for half the price........carbon fiber!
• Here's some person on FB doing a group buy on a product I don't need and won't affect my gains
• Here's an options to potentially leave me stranded if something hits my drive shaft and shatters it.

A carbon fiber driveshaft would go great with a set of train horns. Makes at least as much sense anyways.

 

I could lose 15lbs myself and throw some premium gas in the tundra and have the same result and still have 2400 bucks in my pocket.

Man a carbon fiber driveshaft will look baller on your Carolina squatted truck. That way people can see it.

Step 3: Pick up passengers. While making uncomfortable eye contact announce they are riding "the big black shaft" today. Lock the doors. <grin> Looks of confusion means 5 Stars all the way.

You guys are funny. I don't care if it makes sense to you or not, move along. I got better things to do than to be worried about you wasting your time on this post. I'm not selling these and yes after years of using this forum I joined 2 years ago. I just recently finished a huge project on my truck that I'm happy about and got back on the forum. My build is geared toward power whenever and wherever I want. So please respect my post and stop filling it up with anything but serious questions or interest. I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I'm not going to lie, it's a good looking drive shaft, and made about 65 miles away from me...

 

It’s a nice part no doubt, but throwing it on a near 6000lb truck even with 700WHP, you’re still going to get schooled by a well driven 5.0 Coyote Mustang on a 1/4 mile.

 

Plus, I could see one or two guys being crazy enough to modify their trucks to run 4k ft-lbs of torque at 10k RPM but enough for a group buy to be worthwhile?

 

Crewmax is under 5,500. Why would I race a mustang?

 

Maybe yours is. Mine was 5800 from the dealership. Now we'll over 6000 with mods added.

 

Rated for*.. not what the actual application is... just going off what the gentleman said.

 

5640 according to Edmunds for a crew max 4wd with the short bed. Why not race a mustang? I've had more fun beating up on sports cars with trucks than I ever had doing it with another sports car.
