We had a bad wreck a year ago with an SUV and insurance fought us hard on not totaling it. Took a year to repair as well due to parts shortages.

My advice would be - in case it’s not totaled, look into filing a “diminished value claim” against the other driver. Basically says that since they were at fault, and since your car isn’t totaled, they should have to reimburse you for the value drop on your truck.

that way, in the unfortunate case that it’s not totaled, you can be reimbursed for how much the value goes down + trade it in right away … Between the reimbursement and the trade you won’t lose any money and you can still get in a new truck IF they don’t total it (I really hope they total it for your sake/convenience though)

hope this info helps and good luck
