    Hello All,

This is my first post here, though I've been reading for a few years.
My 08 Tundra with a 5.7 and 153k miles has started making a new clacking/loud ticking noise.
It's making this noise when I'm accelerating or while the truck is facing uphill, even if I'm stopped on the hill. The noise stops when I stop accelerating. So, cruising, decelerating, or I stop on a level surface. It seems to be coming from the front of the transmission, but I know that could be completely wrong.
The noise speeds up and gets louder if I accelerate harder. I've uploaded a video with the best recording of the noise I could manage, it's significantly louder while accelerating.

    https://youtu.be/G7grXwHFkic

I've changed the oil, corrected every rattle I could find, pushed and pulled on the exhaust pipes, made sure the covers on the CATs aren't rattling, and held onto each of the heat shields around the exhaust manifolds to make sure one of them wasn't popping.

Has anyone encountered a problem like this?

    Thanks in advance!

It turns out that the noise was coming from the Starter.
The previous owner had an aftermarket Starter installed.
The noise was occurring because the spring that retracts the gear into the starter broke allowing the gear to bounce against the Flywheel.
