    First post...

Ive scoured the inter webs and spent the past 30 mins creeping around the underside of my truck, but for the life of me cannot locate a factory access point to run wires for a backup camera from the cab to back of the truck...

I'm sure its on the forum somewhere but I would greatly appreciate some assistance from anyone whose already done this.

Closest Ive found is someone mentioning that there is a factory access point under the rear seat of a DC, but no joy on mine.

Looking forward to the "search" comments and hopefully an answer.

    Cheers!

Under the driver's seat. Pull the sill trim, and pull the carpet back middleish of the seat there's an existing grommet.

Thanks for the quick reply! You’re like the mayor of tundras.com for first gens and I appreciate you.

However, you help from reading other posts is like a scavenger hunt. I know it’s repetitive to answer the same question over and over, but it’s really hard to follow when you reference a post # that has links in that post to multiple different posts.

Oustanding! I see it on the underside of my truck. I’ll pull the carpet up in the morning and run with that.

    Thanks again!

It does get repetitive, and I hike, hunt, and fish IRL, so I kinda enjoy the adventure. But yeah, you're right, same questions get asked a lot.

There's actually three different access points you can come up thru on driver's side of cab IIRC, but varies by cab, and RC may only have two. You may need to zig-zag to get to the one below the kick panel. Be sure to use grommets or loom anywhere you pass through metal. Others found out the hard way.

Did you use that grommet just inboard of the drivers seat?

    Thanks for the help fellas.

Got the back up camera, amplifier bypass harness, usb where cig lighter was and new stereo receiver installed this afternoon.

    AND… It all works

Next up, new speakers all around. Probably just do one door at time as I find the time.

In this video: "I recommend using one of these". Please people, this is fucking horrible advice. NEVER USE THESE!

2nd, fuck those things. Especially when people clamp them as close as possible to a connector.

So that's actually not the grommet I ended up using.

On my 06 SR5 DC there was an unused grommet I found just inboard of the forward most drivers side cab mount. Cut the smallest x slit that would allow the receiver plug to pass through and routed the rest along the frame with zip ties. I had one posi-tap on hand that I used to plug into the power side of the drivers tail light reverse bulb and looped the ground around the upper tail light mount bolt for now. Plan on getting another posi tap and plugging into the black coming off the same reverse bulb though as I'm not super pleased with chassis ground as of now.

I'll take some pictures of the grommet when I start the speaker install.

Thanks again for all who've contributed!
