Tundra rear view mirror sounds like rice crispies

I have this random ticking occurring near my dash. After checking numerous areas suggested on this forum no success. I have found when my rear view mirror housing gets warm and it is even lightly touched it makes numerous ticking sounds. When cold in the morning it is silent. Anyone have an idea what I can apply to the plastic housing to eliminate the sounds it generates. Don't know if its my ticking noise but it is the only thing i have touched that makes a sound.

 

Super late reply here but I have the same issue going on. Did you ever get resolution to this?

 

You can pick up a new auto dimming version for like $100-75. Switch it out, see if you still hear it? I'm guessing it's the heating element inside it that's going out?
