    Hi guys!

    I have a 2018 SR5 Crew Cab 4x4, 5.7L
Hate all the chrome, so decided to replace the badges, hood bulge and grill with matte black. Badges went well, hood bulge looks great, but…..I can’t seem to find a lower grill surround that is actually Matte Black. I’ve ordered 2 different grills on eBay from 2 different sellers, both listed as matte black with pictures of the correct grill online, but both came and the surround is shiny, reflective and clearly gloss black. Am I crazy? Isn’t matte black the same color as the bumper, side mirrors….we’ll, all the other black on the truck? Any ideas where I can get a lower grill that’s actually matte black? (Not an overlay)

I would look for your actual color code and not matte/shiny black. There are a few different Toyota blacks. Should be listed on the sticker inside the driver door (same think that has VIN and other info). But also know, your vehicle has 5 years of sun damage and depending how the paint was maintained, the correct color might look very different due to new paint verse paint that has experienced life.

Here you go, check this company out. They have matte black but it will cost more than the color matched. https://www.sparksparts.com/

upload_2023-5-7_15-11-22.jpgHere's the look I'm going for. upload_2023-5-7_15-12-51.jpgAnd here's what I got. The hood bulge is matte black and exactly what I wanted, but you can see the lower grill surround is clearly gloss black. In fact, the picture of the correct matte black grill came from the vendor who sold me the gloss black grill and listed it as matte black. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a vendor who actually sold it the correct color. Sparks parts sells it unpainted, but I don't know if that means it's actually matte black. Maybe I'll give them a call. Thanks for the info!
