This was the idea that made it happen. Thanks again, Jason. Nothing some needle nose vice grips couldn't handle.

    The shields are on!

So the bolts that he removed must have been from the front plate and if I remember correctly, those use the nutplates. I added additional bolts to mine that pass through both plates and the crossmember along with nuts and bolt head protectors. I think I have 8 bolts on my front plate all together. I'll look when I add the rubber anti-rattle strip.

The nut plate would make it easier to remove but the bigger issue is that he was able to get a grip on the head. I use the nut plate too and my bolts are torqued mildly bit with the protectors, there's no way/room to get a grip on head.

They had to be really loose but Im suprised that the vise grips were able to hold on to them.

I am too since there isn't a flat area on em, but I think that giant washer didn't help. I will say I had to retorq mine a couple times and used blue loctite

Sorry for any confusion, if there is any? The security nuts and plate that I removed from my new truck, with the vice grips, are NOT from Tyler ( Valhalla's ). They came on the new truck. Looks like it's called "Add-A-Cat" or something. That shield is pretty thin and flimsy. Definitely not a skid plate. Theft deterrent only.

I took the Valhalla's off my old truck, and put them on my new truck. On it, I used the "Pentagon Security Bolts". I have my socket for them. I purchased the plates from Tyler about 1.5 years ago.

I could not get the vice grips to lock on the security bolts. But, luckily, I was able to grip them enough to loosen them.
A thief probably wouldn't bother to even try. They'd hopefully look for any easier target.
