It's a kinda slow night (not a complaint) so I figured I'd share the dyno for my motorcycle.

    https://youtu.be/i8A1iN9JzXA

This was a big reason for me buying it. Look how linear the power it. There's no sudden spike of HP/TQ to go

The throttle is a little bit snappy right at the start, but otherwise it's pretty steady. If I can get the vibrations dialed in it'll be an absolute joy. :)

Another fun bit of info for you, Tyler @LarryDangerfield ; my 2017 WRX had a 0-60 time between 5.2-5.4 seconds according to most sites and mags. My little Honda CB500X has a 0-100 KPH (Roughly 62 MPH) time of 5.3-5.4 seconds. Basically, if you wanna accelerate quickly, you need to get a motorcycle! Even a slow one is on par with quick cars.

Motorcycles are a no-go for me. Can't stand how vulnerable you are on them. Plus it's already been established a few times that I can't own anything quick because I can't stop flooring it :p That's why the Tacoma is perfect; fast enough to be adequate and not feel unsafe but not so fast that I can't keep my foot out of the throttle.

Lol. Had a street bike years ago but times have changed as have drivers and their lack of attention on the road in front of them. Also as an EMS provider I see a lot of donors on bikes. Just had two nasty ones yesterday. One was a fatality.

That's a bummer. There is a whole laundry list of things that can be done to prevent accidents and increase odds of survival on motorcycles, but there are always idiots. Prime example is that video posted earlier of the near miss for that Trooper because some idiot kid thought they knew what they were doing.

So many motorcycle accidents involve speeding, DUI, etc.; then add in the idiots that stunt ride on the road and the overlap those factors have with people not wearing proper gear.... It's way messier than it needs to be and that makes it much scarier than it needs to be.

Yup. Better odds than most because I don't speed, I don't drink or do any drugs that affect my ability to drive, wear my gear, and I avoid busy times.

No leather here. As my buddy says "I don't want to dress like a pirate, so I don't ride Harleys."

I have a helmet, gloves, and a jacket with D3O armor in it. I am trying to get a pair of riding boots that fit, and then I'll mostly be good. Very few injuries to the upper legs, so I'll skimp on riding pants for a while. May change that later, but for now I want my extremities covered.

You should check out D3O if you aren't familiar with it. It's pretty cool stuff.

Get yourself a good mesh jacket with a zip over liner for summertime riding. I used to zip out the liner on my jacket and open all the vents and still cook in the summer.

Also some softbags or a tank bag so you dont have to wear a backpack.

The jacket I have is basically a mesh with it's airflow, but it's 1000D for abrasion as well. Some kind of magic to pull it off, but it's wonderful. 2020 model Klim Marrakesh.

Tank bag is on the list, but I don't mind a backpack. Kinda prefer it as I don't have to remember to take it with me. It just follows me naturally. Might eventually get the AltRider Hemisphere panniers, but that's a long way down the road. I need to get fully comfortable on the bike before adding luggage.

I was bumped off a bike by a van when I was 20 (I mean, it was the idiot driving the van...). Not a fun experience, and my head was inches away from a tree as I was flying through the air on my way to the ground; but I landed in the grass median wearing a T-shirt, jeans, and a helmet. I wound up okay, a little scratched up, but I'm not getting back on one. I had a good friend dump one in the middle of a 3 lane highway a year or so later. He was doing 70 as he hit the ground, wearing soccer shorts, boat shoes, a helmet, and nothing else. His ass, palms of his hands, and one shoulder turned to hamburger, and just about every joint on his body had some skin missing. He lost so much skin he couldn't leave the hospital for a couple of weeks because his body couldn't regulate its temperature. It's his own fault for being an idiot, but sometimes there's just not much more you can do without a protective cage around you. Now my son is going to get a bike...

Ive high sided a yzf600r and had a few close calls and one front wheel washout on the supermoto (pepples in an intersection that I didn't see while taking a left at about 15-20mph), but all were at lower speeds. The close calls on the supermoto would have been collisions on a sportbike or cruiser.

I've dumped it hard at speed in the woods more times than I can count. Water crossings are my nemesis.

Helmet, jacket, jeans and gloves are bare minimum protection for me.

Those 5 second times had me check to see what the wife’s Highlander is…. 7.3 lol.

I want a bike, but then there’s another expensive hobby and my kids sports cost enough; that and I’m debating on joining our son in Jiu-Jitsu (I did it for several years) so there’s more cash.

He was looking at reviews and I’m not sure what that even is, but it caught my attention.

Forward looking camera, Stub Antenna, 3M clearshield. A few other non lifted items.
I was ATGATT and a safe rider. Speed was always tHere to be had of course. All was well until a couple of horses jumped out from a bush next to the road when I was doing 40 mph. No road rash but a few broken bones and internal injuries. I totaled the bike. Anyways, be safe.

You guys are missing the point. YOU can do all you want and ‘be safe’ but just cause you’re not drinking doesn’t mean the douchecanoe in the jacked F-150 isn’t and/or isn’t on Snapchat as well.

you ride long enough and it’s a matter of ‘when’ not ‘if’ you get in an accident.
