There seems to be a general consensus the A/C does not work as well as previous gen Tundras. Mine takes much longer to cool the interior than my previous Tundra. It also does not blow as hard. Next time you go to the dealer, have them check it out to make sure it's functioning correctly. They will likely tell you "it's working as intended."

My ventilated seats work well. As long as the bean bag stays cool, the A/C doesn't bother me too much. Definitely not like the arctic blizzard that came out of my previous gen, but it works well enough. Obviously A/C comfort is subjective based on the owner.

well the new freon by subjective evals doesnt seem to be as effective as the old stuff

    1234YF

pros and cons of 1234YF and the new equipment used for servicing

    Pros:

    • Recovers 95% of refrigerant in the system.
    • Recharges within a ½ ounce of specification.
    • Will not allow the recovery of contaminated refrigerant.
    • Will not recharge if leaks are detected.
    • More efficient.
    Cons:

    • More costly and complicated to maintain. 134a is about $5 per pound. The new refrigerant costs about 10 times as much. The average vehicle uses about one to one and a half pounds.
    • It’s mildly flammable. However, it will not ignite without a heat source greater than 1650 degrees Fahrenheit. According to theSAE, the refrigerant is safe for passenger use. Risk of fire is low in the case of an accident or refrigerant leak into the cabin area.

The EPA is looking to drop some more refrigerant regulations soon. Can't wait to see the impact of that.

My wife complains about the air velocity coming out. It is adequate but the weakest of any recent vehicle I have had. I run it 2-3 degrees cooler than the previous Ram otherwise I would melt.

Not as cold as some older vehicles. It should be cool but not ice cold like vehicles of the older days due to higher efficiency compressors and newer refrigerant. Aka more fuel efficient but slower to cool off. I think the vent temps are around 45-55ish degrees F on max ac depending on ambient outdoor temperature.

I should note that I live in BC so we are just crawling into the heat months. Today i left the golf course after the truck baked there for 6 hours and it cooled right down while on the AUTO setting.

Yes, mine got slowly worse over about a months time after new. The condenser fittings were leaking and Toyota replaced the condenser, been working well since.

Mine seems to struggle cooling and blower is very weak and MUCH louder than my other Tundra’s to get the same volume of air out.
It makes me think the duct work is miss aligned or something

From SWFL - so we've had temps in mid 90's already. I notice it's not as cold as my 1st and 2nd Gen. Also, when in ECO mode, it backs off a bit on cooling as part of the efficiency for that mode. I did ceramic tint on every glass surface (front/pan/side/rear) and that made a huge difference. Keeps the heat out a fair amount more, while sitting, and when under way, the cooling can keep ahead of it, and actually go very cold.

Coworker of mine had the same complaint. Took it in and it turned out the system was overcharged. They drained it back to normal levels and he said it was better.

Still not as icy cold as his 2020 was though. His hypothesis is that the interior is more square and the air doesn’t circulate as well as the previous tundra. Pair that with a blower motor that just can’t quite keep up and it makes sense to me.

I think here is south Texas it's the hot humid air that causing problems with he newer system. Mine will not stay cool at the temp settings. I placed a thermometer at the vent . At first it lowers to the set temp (73) but then fluctuates during the drive (74-76)

Someone mentioned it but ECO mode also puts the HVAC into an ECO mode which cools less.

Is it something that happens when in traffic or all the time? I know that in traffic my A/C isn’t as cold as when you moving.

All the time- but I’ve been using auto mode and it cools
More- but just saw that eco mode also puts ac to eco mode. (Not sure if someone is trolling- or if it’s true)

Seriously, I was sitting at a light, and put it in Eco, and heard the fans slow down, and it didn't feel quite as cool. Then, I put it back in Normal mode, and heard the fans pick up just a slight bit, and the air felt a shade cooler.
