Hello all, have my door panels off prepping for paint this weekend and wanted to verify that this nonsense isn’t factory…

Thinking I’ll just delete all this and replace the door speakers with 3 ways…?

Ya, was fairly certain it wasn’t. Seems like a ton to go through for a couple tweeters …

Looks like an aftermarket tweeter also, so score for you.

Most quality component systems come with crossovers like that. Perfectly normal. Just suggests whatever a previous owner installed was likely decent stuff. And they were smart about install, at least in that they repurposed the OEM tweeter bracket during install, which is a smart move to keep things looking OEM+ and avoiding cutting plastics.

I just disagree with the crossover install location (direct to the door card), not securing the wire properly, and not using the cover that would've come on the crossover. I'm sure it was done so it wasn't necessary to unplug the tweeter any time the door card came off, but they're just putting themselves in a situation where they need to unhook the mid/woofer component anyway, so it's 6 of one, half dozen of the other.
