Just wanted to post an update after putting some miles on her and towing the first time.
I will say, there are a few things that I CAN nitpick. And they are nitpicking but we all do it. The cup holders. Mayber this trd sport handles three times better than my 2021 (it does) but a couple times around turns I've almost slung a mug into the passenger side floorboard. They don't hold well.
Secondly, the tailgate. . It sounds like nails on a chalkboard upon opening. I'm guessing I'm not the only one? It's an awful sound. . Like really bad. . But it works and does what I guess it's suppose to do.
Third, the lag everyone talks about. I know it's inherent and I'm getting used to it but it DOES take some getting used to from a dead stop.
However, with all of that being said, I love this damn truck more than any I've ever bought. Ten times over. I towed my boat with it this weekend and could not believe how effortlessly it pulled. Boat, motor, trailer and all loaded down should be somewhere around 5k so while not anywhere close to max numbers, it never made me feel like it was working near as hard as the 5.7. I took the same route I normally would with my 2021 and while even pulling in s4 with it, it usually downshifting quite often on hills where as this new truck only did twice the entire 4 hour trip. Normally you'd hear a little turbo whistle and never skipped a beat. Also accelerated with less effort. All while getting maybe 1.5 mpg higher.
I know the 3rd gen haters will say "well, let's see how it holds up with 100, 200, 300 thousand miles.". Yeah, we'll see. I'll be the first to say that I'll find it hard to match the reliability of the previous gens. . .but so far, I could not be more impressed!

*edit* also wanted to note that I towed in D using tow+ mode. . .

I towed the camp trailer for the first real trip and man it was great. True Road Boss towing. Next trip is over I70 Eisenhower Tunnels so that will be about as challenging as it gets and I expect it to dominate.

keep it out of eco and into sport or sport + and the lag disappears (at least for me it does)

I wish the springs were little stronger on cup holders or something. I had an entire medium Dunkin Cold brew tipped over into passenger seat. It was a real mess. Had to take apart the center console and clean into all the nooks and cranny so my truck doesn't smell like coffee and get sticky. :(

I have an SR5, so Side by side. The driver cup holder is also shallower. I guess they elevated for the driver easy reach. I usually try to put it into passenger cupholder, it's deeper for bigger cups. My fiance loves it for her Venti size starbucks drinks.

That's awesome. Despite the doom and gloom throughout the forum, I think most owners are very happy with the truck. I for one like it more than any I've owned before. This is my fourth Tundra and I have owned a silverado, ram, and F series.

Nothing compares to these TTV6's towing except for maybe the 3.0 Duramax.

Even my mother-in-laws 7.3L Godzilla doesnt have the low end that my 2014 Ecoboost did, and thats about as stout as a NA V8 gets.

How many people here drive 2, 3, 400000 miles in a reasonable amount of time? My F150 is going on 10 years old and sitting at 109k. Even if it only lasted me until 200k miles its going to be 20 years almost. I dont think I would be all that butthurt if it spontaneously combusted in my driveway at that point.

ya yota did pretty good with a 479 at 2,400 rpm out of a 3.4

thats lower Rpm than Ford by a decent amount I think

Its hard to tell since they only advertise peak torque. Ford is at 500 torque at 3100 but no idea what its doing at 2400 since they don't tell you.

ya splitting hairs at that point anyway, I just just thought having a peak at 2,400 was good

Which leads me to another question. . .I've owned all the brands out there besides Ford. As far as towing goes, does the ecoboost outdo the new tundra? I can't see it but by the numbers, maybe?

As an F150 Ecoboost owner, the Achilles heel with the Ecoboost is the cooling system. The engine is capable of pulling like a freight train but the intercooler and radiator don't really let it reach its potential, especially when you get some decent summer heat.

The F150 might have a higher tow rating and higher paper power/torque numbers, but if I was gunna hook up a 10000 lb trailer behind the two and push them hard, I'd put my money on the Tundra.

In cold weather, when the cooling isnt an issue, I'd probably give the nod to the F150. Ford allows them to make stupid amounts of power and torque when you run higher octane fuel and so I think it probably makes a good amount more power than the tundra in good conditions running 91 or 93 octane.

Let’s not forgot that the world class Ford GT is fitted with a 3.5 Ecoboost. They’ve won the Lemans with that engine.

Can this be used in a Platinum? Website shows SR, SR5, Pro and Limited. I like the idea, but don't want to order if it won't work. Thanks in advance!

It will not work with the Platinum. I had a limited and bought the Cup Grip, worked great. Traded Limited for Platinum, no way will this work. I did email on the www.cupgrip.com website the maker for one to fit Platinum, it hasn't been made yet. Bottom of the website states this:

I had the same problem with mine, there is a TSB from Toyota, it requires a ECU Update to fix that problem.
Mine is doing fine now.

I wonder if it’s a truck by truck issue, my 2022 and now 2023 have zero lag.

Good to hear about the towing experience. One area of concern for me is the 3rd gen owners reporting excessive sag and the need for after market suspension assistance for trailers in the 5-6k lb range. Any issues with your suspension?

I don't feel like it sagged any more than my 21 honestly. Maybe because it's a sport? Not sure if the rear is stiffer on these trucks but it wasn't bad at all

Thanks. I just would hate to buy a new truck and find out it needs airbags to tow a 6k lb trailer.
