Gents, I’m sure this has been addressed, so I apologize up front…. I looked but can’t spot an answer.

Anyone have experience putting a 35/12.50 on the OEM spare wheel? Im sure I can make the tire fit on the wheel, and it should fit under the bed with minor mods.

My question is regarding fit with the UCA. I do have MCM arms, so should have a little more clearance. Just not sure about the fat tire with a +60 offset…

It’s just a spare, and won’t be in my rotation. Would need to use it for no more than a few days if a new tire needed to be ordered. My plan is to just pick up a used tire, and a 35/12.50-17 should be easy to find. Much easier than the 285/75-18 that will be on the truck! Same height, just a little fatter.
Also, how I like my wimmen.

I am running stock steel wheels, spider trax 1.25” spacers, and 295/70r18 cooper at3 xlt’s, and MCM arms like you. Just measured this and I’ve got about 1 3/4” between sidewall and UCA. These tires are about 11.5” wide, best I can measure.

You’d want to do some figurin’ but I’ll bet you could make it work. Might be pretty close to the UCA with the 12.5” width but she’ll prob ride.

    Great response, thank you!

Looks like it should be dangerously close. According to the little offset calculator I found online, a 35/12.5 should put the inner sidewall ~.45" closer to the suspension than your 295/70-18. Remove the 1.25" spacer, and we're at 1.7" in from where you are. .05" clearance should be plenty! LOL... I may keep my eyes peeled for a wheel with a little less positive offset.

Or, a 315/70-17 should get me closer to an eighth of an inch clearance...

I should probably just suck it up and buy a new tire and wheel and run a 5-tire rotation. But, how do you address TPMS that way? To be honest, I like that I can check my pressure from the heated and ventilated seat...

I run a 5 tire rotation with TPMS in all tires. After my rotations I sometimes have to get the tpms reset or relearned or whatever, but it’s mostly a non issue. My pressure gauge in the dash works normally once the “new” sensor is learned.

Well, that doesn't sound so bad then. Is the TPMS reset just a push and hold on the button type of thing? Or head to the dealer?

I have my rotations done at discount tire. They take care of the tpms recalibration when they do the rotation.

A five tire rotation is the way to go in my opinion. It increases the usable mileage of a set and keeps you from having some bastard spare wheel/tire combo that’s not the same as the rest.

I have 35x12.5 r17" +10 offset wheels. I went through a similar dillema about 35x12.5 and a spacer on the stock steel spare.

I decided to go with the size you suggested above on the stock steel spare— 285/75r18 that more or less matches the outer diameter of the 35s and should get me home if needed. Is your steel spare a 17"?

I thought it was a 17…. Better confirm!

My new tires will be 285/75-18 with +25 offset.

you won’t be disappointed with that size. I have that size currently installed and it looks very well proportioned.

Oh, I already have the new tires and wheels. They’re just sitting in the shop till late fall when I will need to replace my current set. It’s a little tough to wait…. Really like the size. A skinny 35.

I have 315s with 50+ offset, I don’t think +60 offset would fit, they may be able to be mounted but would not have clearance when turning. 315s and 50+ do fit with OEM UCAs and Total Chaos.

35/12.5 are usually 12.5" wide on a 10" rim. It will be a lot narrower on a 8" rim. ~.1" less clearance than a 295/70r18.

That’s not bad logic…. I suppose I can find a pre-owned 35” spare and swap tires on my spare wheel to test fit.

Times like this are when it’s nice to have a buddy with a tire machine…

I don’t mind the idea of buying a 5th new tire as much as the few hundred for an extra wheel. If I was running stockers with spacers, I’d be all over a matching spare. But whees are expensive! Lol.

I reread your OP, and if you are going to put 285/75r18s on your truck just get one of those... on ebay if you can't find one locally.

What is the item you tried to link? It just takes me to EBay Motors. Not a specific part.

The site made that link. Search for used 285/75r18 on ebay. Saw a Falken AT3W that looked good for ~$200.

Hey partner, where did you source your 5th TPMS sensor? I need to get one more to go with this wheel/tire combo I found.

Oh, BTW…. I caved and just ordered another Ray10 and matching Falken. Full price on the wheel with freight was about $345. Tire was $322-ish on Amazon. Cheaper than when I ordered the other four a couple months ago. Of course…

Man, that’s a good question. I think I just ordered a Toyota oem from an online source. I don’t remember where, though. I do remember having to figure out which one I needed. Iirc there are 2 types of tpms. One is straight and the other is angled, I think? Of course, i can’t remember which one is the correct one right now either.

boatload of help there, huh?! Hope that’s useful info to get you pointed in a general direction, though.
