Well, today was the day I was supposed to pick-up my Tundra from the body shop. Just got the word they totaled it. I guess it's Tundra's To Sedona in a Jeep Wrangler for us.

These trucks run forever, but are so expensive to repair.

Why was it totalled? The bed doesn't even look like it kissed the cab.

Got me looking at rear bumpers now. I wonder if a steel or aluminum bumper would have caused less damage? (Or just transfer more energy to the frame and totally anyways). The OEM front bumper definitely has a weak point on the edges that allows for way more damage, are the rear bumper caps just empty like they seem to be?

No chance of buying it back, straightening the frame and mounting a flatbed in its place? Every home owner needs a truck at least occasionally.

Oh, I will get another truck soon. I'm sure I could do the buy back and all that, but it would probably be a huge hassle and time.

It's a great rest of the truck, though. It only had 18,322 miles on it.

Thanks. No injuries, barely even felt a thing. Just took nearly 3 months of waiting to find out it was totaled.

Sorry dude, that sucks. I just went through the same thing. Got rear ended by a drunk driver in February, damage didn’t look bad at all to the naked eye. But I also had frame damage so they totaled it. Good luck with the insurance company. My process was relatively smooth. Hope you’re able to find another truck quickly!

I believe I commented on your post saying I went through the same thing. Only at that time they were thinking mine was repairable.
Sucks it happened to you, too.
So far they low balled me the intial offer, $41k and some change, and that including my $3k of aftermarket parts coverage. I said "nope, I can't replace that truck for that".
Some of the aftermarket parts I should be to remove (sliders, full skids, gas tank skid, etc.), but, the suspension and tires I won't be able to, (Bilstein UCA, 6112/5160, Toytec shackles, Ridge Grapplers etc) so,I'm eating a few hundred dollars even with the $3k.

Ouch. Glad you're okay. Is the suspension bent and twisted?
