Shaun was generous to let me test out a new offering by Talons. I can wholeheartedly recommend it for making getting cat plates on much easier with the TRD skidplate.

Comes complete with the hardware, thick bare aluminum, nice and heavy duty, should easily last the life of the vehicle. The included bolts are appropriately long to allow loosening of skidplate to slide in the cat shields without anything falling apart on you.

Tip: your TRD skidplate takes a metric #5 Allan key, and this hardware takes a 7/32 'Murica Allan. Quick second trip to my toolbox and things are snugly in place. Can highly recommend, I bet Shaun should have these for sale and quick shipping in short order.

Right! Sorry there's not much to look at, this was just my test "fitting" to see that the holes indeed lined up. Now that it's installed there's even *less* visible to take pictures of, sorry!

@Talon2006 that sucks but the nut retention is pretty cool. Hope you get that listed in the future. I know I'll get that. I plan to drop my plates in the future to repaint them and might as well make the re-installstion easier.

That’s the same reason I asked when will they be available. Make the Pro skid plate easier to drop.

Alas, my knowledge ends with the Universal VLS 3.5 I play with at work, but it's only a 25w laser in there too. What brand rivnut gun should we be avoiding? I've been looking at some of those Amazon specials with great temptation, it'd be fun to put stainless rivnuts in things that probably don't need them...

This is not due to the rivnut gun itself, but operator error. I am pretty sure it was an accident though. It has been a great investment though.

I forget the brand name, but this is a 5,000 dollar pneumatic gun. Super Nice! I got it from Cardinal Components and I LOVE working with those guys.

I have the first batch on the laser getting cut now.

I am waiting on a order of Riv nuts, but hoping to have them early next week.

Shaun question will there be plenty to order or will it be you order then you may run out and then your waiting? Just checking. Don’t know how many guys are going to jump in this right away.

I think I made 40 or so of them.

I’m not sure how many are really going to order.

my limiting factor right now is the number of riv nuts I have on hand.

That being said…. Even if we run out of the first batch, I should be able to get them rolling pretty good after that.

Honestly the biggest delay…. Has been my wife wasn’t tracking them and staying after me to remember to cut them. Now they are on her radar it will go much smoother.

She may be little and sweet, but you don’t want to see her if I forget to cut something on her production list!

Going to try to tackle this tomorrow. Where exactly does the nut plate sit relative to the TRD skid? Is it below it as shown in this pic? There are no instructions for this plate install...

It sits on top of the rubber spacers, above the crossmember.

Ah ok. I was thinking it was all the way on top and it replaces the top nut for the skid. Thanks for confirming.
