Oil Cooler leaking

Anyone else ever have problems with the seal on the oil cooler? I thought it was my pan leaking, but seems to be leaking at the block. Just wondering, doesn't look too difficult. Is it very tedious to change oil pan gasket?

 

Oil pan gasket, yes, because dropping it sucks.

The German Toyota mechanic on YouTube covers this exact repair on 1st Gens, the oil cooler gasket. Let me see if I can find the video. It was an easy-enough task.

It's got one seal on the backside of it. Here's a quote from when I took mine off.

Nah, the rusty frame in those pics is no more. I assume it's been melted down already by swope toyota or whatever the hell they do with those old frames. Yours actually looks worse than mine now...

 

It's leaking where it attaches to block. There is a figure 8 rubber seal. Thanks for the video. I don't have a lift, so I'll wearing my shoulders out! Lol

 

So I just got around to changing that seal. What that German Toyota guy doesn't say in his video is that I had to take off the AC compressor. There was a nut hiding behind it for the adapter. And it wasn't fun. Looks like someone took it off already, and most of the heads were rounded. Had to grind 2 off. I wanted to change the oring behind the cooler also, but the parts guy at the dealer said my model doesn't have one. Do y'alls seperate from the adapter? I wanted to change it before I put fresh oil in. Part I think I need is 9030167004. Every where I look, it says it just fits the 6 cyl. The book doesn't show it separating from the adapter. Guess I'll just take that big nut off and find out. Still would have to order the seal though. Had to order most new bolts for adapter and ac bracket. PITA
