I am sure most of you guys remember SRs from 10 years ago - they were definitely trash bare bones (updated for my 2nd Gen pals). I bought my '22 SR as a beater farm truck and it has absolutely blown me away. I now drive it way more than my other vehicles.

It's never gotten stuck despite being so deep in water and mud that it's gotten inside the cab.
    It looks awesome.
It handles great, even when loaded down with close to the max payload of 1,500lbs.
    The turbo sounds awesome.
It's extremely quiet inside with comfortable leather seats.
Once I put on full RCI skids and sliders it was indestructible. I beat the crap out of this truck on rutted out forest roads and it still rides smooth with 60,000 miles on it.
None of my money went to the UAW.
Radar guided cruise makes 2 lane highway driving a breeze.
I’be dragged 1,000lb hay bales almost 1/4 of a mile through pasture when the tractor went down with no issues.
The power delivery is super smooth even when hauling horses and cattle.
There’s just enough electronics to be convenient but not so many that they feel nanny-state-ish or cause other problems.

Toyota hit a slam dunk with the 3rd Gen. If my SR is this good I can’t imagine how nice the higher trim levels are. Sorry for the Facebook-ish tone to this post but there’s a lot of problems in this forum mostly from 2nd gen haters so I wanted to bring some positivity.

Breath of fresh air thank you Eurodriver! I’m in love with my 3rd Gen too. So much of what I read on the forum has to do with moaning about one issue or another. Yes there are some issues but overall our trucks are amazing. Congrats on your SR and so happy you love it!

So you are saying the 2013 Tundra SR are (trash) ? And how do you know this? did you own one? What a stupid comment, I will bet you anything that you would like to bet a 2013 SR will have FAR fewer problems than the 3rd gen. And I am someone who knows.

I love the SR trim in all generations. All 3 of mine were/are base or SR. I like that it's the same truck, all the wiring is in place for any of the features that weren't added in the factory, you can add only the features you want for a fraction of what it would add to the dealer price and none that you don't want and I particularly like that all the dash and door plastic is solid black.
The leather seats you mentioned may actually be vinyl. I had cloth in the last 2 and vinyl in the current truck. It seems high quality and certainly easy to clean, but I'm swapping to cloth because it's more comfortable.
Anyway, I love my (2.5 gen) SR and plan to drive it until gasoline is illegal,.....then buy black market gas and keep driving it.

Man, you have the most well behaved cattle. What I mean is most ranchers that have cattle have the bed sides caved in.

Not sure where all the critical opinions of the 3rd gen tundra are directed, but for me the biggest issue has not been the truck but the dealership system that is in charge of doing all the service and repairs. Why is it that it each time you have even a small issue with your truck, that you feel like you need to dust off your rifle and prepare to go to war with those damn dealership rats? They fight you at every step and try to deny you service or repairs unless it's going to be grossly profitable for them right at that moment. It's unlike any other expensive product that you buy, it's absurd. You'd think, the more expensive thing that you buy, the better customer service experience that you would get but it is the complete opposite.

That being said however, I am very happy with my 3rd gen purchase. The truck itself has been a joy to use & own, and I plan to continue to own it for many years to come.

    Lots of stuff!
I have spent more time adding things and changing things then actually driving! I like my Tundra and expect to have it for a long time. I will be driving it more as things change with our business and we book more camping trips.

I think the thing that is holding me back is waiting for my one a kind steps. My fabricator is nearly finished making the brackets and then we can fit them up and then off to powder coating. So a few more weeks and I will have steps for a 6.5' box Crewmax! I am worried about the seats cracking from us sliding out of the truck.

Haha yes I love mine also. Turbo whistle is awesome. Towing next weekend for camping next weekend and really looking forward to it. On my test tow a few weeks ago it crushed. I am enjoying it more and more, to be honest I was a little underwhelmed when I first got it but now it feels great and I as I understand the machine more and more it’s all coming together.

They did a great job. I have a lot of confidence in this truck.

That’s common on these truck forums. No different really on the Ram forum. People have an issue and come to the net to vent.

Ummm, sir, you aren’t allowed to say things like that around here. I think it’s written somewhere in the bylaws or some such that niceties are not to be lavished upon the 3rd Gen detritus buffet served up to us by Mr Sweers and his malevolent minions. It quite simply offends my sensitivities! Or is that sensibilities? Either way, my ability to be sensitively triggered has been activated. We are talking DefJam level 7 code blue!

Can we get a moderator in here to shut this clown show down, please? Like, pronto? ASAP? Allez vite with a side of pain?

And eating steaks in front your behemoth bovine bastians?!? You should be downright ashamed of your… wait… did you say steak? Ok, I give up. I’m in!

Also glad to hear a positive testimony of your experience with your new wheels, I've been on the fence the past few weeks about getting my new truck.
My late Dad was a huge believer in Toyota for over 30+ years and always told me to put down guns and get one,and my Girl has an 04 Corolla w/ 248K on it and it's 100% mechanically sound, the clear coat is a little beat and the clock is temperamental but other than that it's good.
I put an order in for my first ever Toyota back in February and it arrives late May/early June allegedly,so anticipating it's arrival and acting like a little kid waiting for Christmas I have been buying all kinds of shit for it like a K&N CAI,Gator GRX rolling bed cover,Cornfed 2/1 leveling Kit,Crista OBD,CBI Covert front bumper...
So back to all of the problems I've been reading & the majority of problems have been minor issues which is expected of a completely redesigned vehicle, and some with options of a whole new breed of drive chains and unfortunately some of which have been catastrophic failures...
I'm going to stay the course and pray for the best, thanks again for your post and all the best with your mods on it.

Thank you! I love my Tundra. I have experience with other rides (18 Siveraldo, 10 Avalanche, 13 F150, 07 Avalanche, 08 Tacoma, 04 Ram 2500, etc) and I truly am impressed with my new Tundra. The engine/transmission rock, the softex and interior are comfy and stylish, the exterior looks Tundra cool. Thumbs up from me! And thanks for the post. I’m about done with the forum because of all of the bitching. This post is refreshing.

I've had my 3rd gen Tundra for over a year now, and have around 35k km on it. No issues whatsoever. I regularly tow 6-7000 lbs, and it handles it with no problem. I'm not a big fan of all of the electronics, but that is a minor quibble and I knew it going in. I still have my 2000 Tundra AC, and an older BJ42 Land Cruiser when I want to get free from that.

Provided the reliability holds up, from a performance and functionality standpoint, the 2022 Tundra is one of the best trucks I've owned.

I like that you’re using it as an actual truck. Lots of people don’t do that, no matter which gen Tundra they own.

Backed into a tree while backing into my campsite this weekend. Taillight bezel on driver side is a fine. Took the bark off the tree. Just be aware the camera doesn’t catch everything. This truck has a tougher bark. Love it!
