    Hey guys,

I had a guy recommend doing flushes for the oil & transmission.

Oil every 2 or 3 oil changes and for transmission every 30k.

Didn't see these recommendations in the manual.

Do you guys recommend doing this?

    Thanks!

There’s been many posts about the transmission flush question & if I recall it right, the recommendations have been drain & refill - not flush. I’m a little behind but I plan on having the dealer drain & refill my transmission.

Dude is seriously trying to make some money off ya. At about $200 a pop, ATF flushes are pricey. We did one at about 115k miles on our Sequoia and I only let my Toyota guy do it, not some quick lube joint with some high school kid behind the work.

Oil flush/engine flush is a DIY job. Buy the flush, dump it in, start it and let it run for 5 maybe 10 min then drain. Done. I used to it only when I changed oil viscosity in my older vehicles. Never done it in my Tundra. Synthetic oil is much cleaner burning and doesn't have as much carbon in it vs conventional oil.

    Just my 2 Abrahams.

I'd avoid 'flushes' using power for fluid compression, instead only drain/fills are necessary. Here is a vid showing how easy it is to DIY:

A guy I work with has a 2007 Sequoia that has 330,000 miles. He changed the transmission fluid once himself at 150,000. It shifts fine to me. Always has.

I have never flushed either, just drain and fills while replacing filters/strainers

Just paid the dealership to drain and fill our 2012 Corolla with 150k miles. Cost just over $800 but I couldn't source the CVT fluid and didn't have time either. Figured it was worth it if it helps the car get another trouble-free 150k miles.

30k seems excessive. Even with heavy towing I think you could go 90k.

Regular oil changes per manual and am doing my second drain and fill on the tranny of my 2007 CM. Drain and fill only for me.

    Too many, but not enough....
Drain and fill only. Flushes are for toilets, not transmissions.

I had the dealer do a trans flush at 44,000 miles. It’s been good since then, I have 72,000 now on the truck. The service advisor had a heart attack saying I should wait until 120,000 miles until I have the fluid changed. I just wanted it done early to keep it all clean inside. Had my diffs and trans case done also at the same time. I would have preferred a drain and fill but it wasn’t offered and I didn’t want to argue with the dealer advisor. I was already annoyed enough by him. Lol.

Do you plan on doing it for your Tundra? I asked my Toyota guy and he recommends never flushing.

I agree 30k def seems excessive lol so had to ask yall. My manual says 60K but don't do a lot of towing and stuff. So maybe don't need it?
