I picked up my 23 Tundra this week. I had them add the TRD running boards at port. These running boards are super expensive to have added prior to delivery…$1,600 for me. After I got the truck home I noticed the manufacturer defect in the attached pic. I’m tempted to just cut off but then I’d have bare aluminum in that spot that I’d have to paint. Should I ask Toyota to replace the entire running board? If these were $400 running boards I’d cut it off and call it a day. At $1,600…I don’t think I should have to mess with it.
    Thoughts?

Is that just overspray? I’d cut it off and skip the hassle of dealing with the dealership. Not like it’s steel under there

I think it’s aluminum. The running boards are aluminum. It bends/feels like aluminum.

You were right it was very thick overspray. I cut it off. Doesn’t look perfect but I can live with it.

Question is....would you have bought it knowing it was like that? Don't ever sell yourself short. Pay for a product it should be as expected. Not like you bought a gummy bear with a missing leg...you spent $1600

TRD running boards are aluminum. If you cut it off IMO I'd call it a day. They'll be banged up soon enough anyways.

Did you rip the skin off the back of your calves yet? If not, coming attractions! :D

From under the running board, is the coating peeling off?

What material are the TRD running boards brackets made of, steel, aluminum or other (plastic)?

And can anyone provide a picture of the under side of these boards? I’m wondering if they will hold mud/debris like the go rhino boards. And how much the bracket hang down below the running boards.
