Has anyone tried a non-chip key in the ignition to see if the truck can be turned on (not started)? Looking for a solution for running the A/C for my dog for a few minutes that doesn’t run the risk of the truck being stolen.

Remote start would be the best option. The truck has to be running for the AC to work, or get some usb fans

That depends on how long you need it to run. My aftermarket remote start only runs for 9 minutes before shutting off.

The truck needs to be running for the AC to work, otherwise its just the blower fan going.

You have an actual key? You can probably do the opposite. Leave your good key in the ignition, truck running. Use the spare key to manually lock the door?
