    Hows everybody doing? So for my first question, what kind of fuel is everyone running with regular or premium fuel? I know our trucks can take 87 but wanted everyones opinion if there's any improvement in performance or efficiency with premium. My next question what is that black plastic trim that runs along the side of the center console by the knee area and where can I find a replacement? Thanks fellas

    When you put lower octane in a modern engine tuned for higher octane, it retards engine performance I think as a protective measure. The reverse is not true. You're only throwing your money away by putting higher octane gas in an engine tuned for lower octane. Higher octane doesn't provide extra power, it provides increased resistance to spontaneously combusting before a specific pressure. It's the wrong fuel for our trucks.

    I would imagine the dealer can provide the trim piece. I had to cut a piece of hood trim to install a light mount, I'll be getting a set of backup trim pieces from the dealer in case I need to replace them...

    What I don’t get is why does the manual say “87 octane (research 91)”. Are we supposed to do research on 91 octane?

    its because different countries use either 87 (avg) or 91 (ron)

    usa and .ca use the avg formula while most other countries use ron

    RON = Research Octane Number.

    I only run no-Ethanol 91 but I also work from home and only put 3-5k miles a year on the truck, and some of that is towing a roughly 7k travel trailer. I’m approaching the 1 year mark with the Tundra and it currently has 3177 miles.
