Original post I made almost 2 years ago:

"Had code p1633 (P1633 TOYOTA - Engine Control Module Malfunction Electric Throttle Control System Circuit) pop up a couple days ago. Pressing the gas pedal did nothing until it's at the floor and then the engine goes up to about 4-5000 rpm. Disconnected the battery for a minute and the truck went back to normal. Could it be a bad throttle position sensor? I read you have to change out the whole throttle body if that's the case, is that true? Hoping it's not the ecm. If it was a bad sensor why would it work fine after a quick disconnect of the battery?"

I have been just resetting the battery almost everytime I start up and finally got around to replacing the throttle body. It ran great and started up without issue but after a few trips the same issue arises. Anyone have any insight? I can't find much else online about this 1633 code as it seems uncommon. Perhaps bad ground wire? Or ECU?

Also, before I tried replacing the throttle body I tried taking apart the electronic actuator that controls the throttle. After cleaning it up and not seeing anything wrong I put it back on and the truck had more issues. Idling weird and electronic throttle not working like before, except I was unable to reset it to get it to run properly. That is when I finally decided to replace the throttle body.

Given the differences in our 1st Gen, it will help to know what year? What cab type? What engine? What drivetrain? What trim level?
