Gear ratios and transmission specs.

Anyone now how I can find out which transmission and gear ratio my truck has? Like in the vin number or something?? Are there codes on the truck somewhere showing what’s in it? I know my old Chevy did... but I’m a Toyota newby.

Ok thanks for the info. The lack of drivetrain options is good in a way. At least I know what I have haha.

 

Toyota AB60F transmission gear ratios:
1st: 3.333
2nd: 1.960
3rd: 1.353
4th: 1.000
5th: .728 (First overdrive)
6th: .588 (Second overdrive)
That is for the 5.7 doesn't matter 4:10 or 4:30 rear end
The 4.6 has slightly different ratios

Hello to all. I drive a 2010 SR5 4X4. 430 gear ratios. We are thinking of a toy hauler. I was thinking 5th wheel. Because they handle so much better, I use to drive the big trucks for a living. How much weight can I add to the axle? I’m reading from RV places that 1/2 ton fifth wheels exist.

 

You must not have looked too hard when you did:

1. 2015+ F150's do not have 7 lug wheels. At all. They have 6 lug wheels even with the HD Payload Package
2. F150's before 2015 all had 6 lug wheels UNLESS you special ordered the HD Payload Package. Then you did get 7 lug wheels along with a 8200 lb GVWR and north of 2300 lbs of payload in a crew cab 4x4. What GVWR and payload capacity does a 4x4 crew cab tundra have?
3. The only reason Toyota went 4.30 gears in their axle is because the transmission ratios are insanely tall. Even the old 6 speed F150 has a better overall gear ratio in 1st gear with only a 3.55 axle ratio(4.141 x 3.55 = 14.81) than the Toyota with 4.30's (3.333 x 4.30 = 14.33). Now that the F150 has the 10 speeds its not even close, even 3.15 axle gears in the F150 have a greater gearing advantage. So basically, Toyotas package is about equivalent to the average 6 speed F150 without the Max-tow package.

Hey all tring to figure out what I should do. At 75 to 80 mph my rpms hovers at 19 to 2100 tring to bring back down to around 12 1300. I have heavy tires 35s. Stereo in the truck subs and stuff and then I've also got some motor stuff done also full long tube headers cat delet pipes and y pipe to out pipe no muffler. I have the 07 5.7l crewmax 2wd any ideas

 

Trying to bring the rpm BACK DOWN? They shouldn't have been lower than that to begin with...

 

After doing high compression pistons, top end stuf and a tune while on the dyno. At 80mph my rpms would hover at 1300 with the straight exhaust it sits around d 1900.

 

I don't know if anyone offers numerically lower gears, let alone you would need like a 2.7 gearing assuming you have 4.10s now. I'd be amazed if the truck would even have enough torque at that rpm to do anything let alone go the speed you want at that rpm.

 

Hello, I drive a 2010 Tundra SR5 5.7 4X4 TRD. I can't tell you what the ratio is in the transmission. But I can share light on what I do know. 2010 Tundra's 2WD 3.91 AXLE RATIO, 2010 TUNDRA 4X4 4.10 AXLE RATIO, TUNDRA 4X4 TRD 4.30 AXLE RATIO. Hope this helps

 

Does anyone know if 2nd Gen gears are compatible with 3rd Gen Tundras? I've been asking gear shops and they have no answer yet, and they have no gears specifically for the new Tundras.

 

The only way this makes sense is if the 1,300 RPM @ 80 MPH was read while letting off the throttle, as the torque converter would be unlocked and RPM would drop. Changing engine internals will not alter your operating RPM at specific speeds.

You're claim of 1,900 is damn close to perfect. With 4.30 stock gears and 35" tires, you'll be at 1,915 RPM in 6th gear.
