That is what’s referred to as a ‘crackhead price’ actually.

Yeah, that's total bullshit. With those upgrades, and about 50k less miles I could see $23k maybe but all the service records need to be there, no maintenance like timing belt and water pump due, and fully optioned. And for Montana, yeah ... maybe $20k.

Someone clearly "knows what they have on that one". And @Squatting Pigeon nailed it in far fewer words than I

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I have been looking at these trucks for a couple years wanting to get a hunting rig. I can remember 2019 they were 8-10k. I messed up not pulling the trigger.

They're still out there. At least, down here in Atlanta and the surrounding area they are.

That’s the thing with these socal builds, when someone has a kid or something, you can buy it for less than the upgrades. The truck is free. But, heavy mods are heavy mods, so you are not getting a blank canvas.

Trick is to find the canvas that looks the way you want it to - especially if you don't want to paint it yourself

Brand new it probably would've gone for about $35K+ with options, so it's a steal at $28.5K and look....they broke it in for you too with only 208K+ miles on it!

That’s a hard pass. That guy be :rasta:. You can find something 10-15k cheaper with less miles and do all those upgrades yourself and save a bunch money. Probably throw some better stuff on there as well.

The lift and wheel/tire setup looks good but that price is insane. I like the bumper too.

Depends. Is it the super variant, the krazy variant, the hot variant, or some other flavor?

    People never gonna realize - a 10k truck with 15k in customization is not a 25k truck - it’s a nicely dressed 10k truck.

Clearly they have only 1 to sell and they want to believe there is someone as crazy as they are out there. Likely is too - but crazy and crazy and flush with cash are 2 very different people - lots of crazies - a lot less with a wad of cash to spend.

What people don’t get is the number of CASH buyers is always going to be a thin crowd on any vehicle - more so as you get to stuff 8-10 years old or older and priced above a certain point. That number used to be 5k - lately it’s more like 10-12k as inflation squeezed the used market. Anything more than 10-15k - buyers tend to rely on financing - and when financing 15k over 36 months - you are stating at a near equal payment to 33k over 72 months (with the higher interest rate). Now there are plenty of 15k 10-12 year old trucks out there - but there are also plenty of 5-7 year old domestic half tons on dealer lots too that sell for 33k and guess what - it’s alot easier to get financing on that truck off a dealer lot than it is to secure financing on a private sale vehicle. Not the actual credit requirement - but the dealer does all the legwork for you and people are just naturally lazy and will take the easiest path to getting a vehicle.

Aside from that - newer sells easier than lesser total payments. Overall - people live paycheck to paycheck - so of your paying 400 a month - it doesn’t matter to you if your done with payments in 3 years vs 6 - especially if you expect that 6 year payment truck to last the full 6 years and the 3 year truck you have concerns of it costing you more eventually in maintenance (again - I’m not saying the thought is correct - just giving insight to the buyers mind here. I personally would take a 1st gen Tundra drivetrain to outlast over most any 5 year old big 3 engine with all the pollution control/economy boosters).

It’s kinda like some moron the other day - posted a Stihl consumer saw for sale for $250. Saw was beat to shit and someone pointed out you could buy a brand new one at a hardware store for $179 - seller replied “you gotta start high because people will “lowball” you. It’s kind of like no dipshit - you CAN start at a fair price and when someone offers you half ask - say no thanks and move on. If you start at fair prices - stuff will sell quicker and you don’t have to deal with low sellers as you can mark it sold quickly. Further - if your “lowballing” a day after something is posted for sale - in general your just wasting both your and sellers time. I mean negotiation is common in private party sale - but if I put something up and 10 minutes later your messaging me it’s worth half as much and you’ll do me a favor of paying me 30% of the ask - don’t expect a receptive audience. If your right - wait a week or so - it will still be there and you might get a somewhat more receptive seller. Just like there are unrealistic sellers - there are buyers who would try to haggle with you if you priced a $100 bill for $80 - going to get you to $50 - some people can’t just accept a “good” deal - they believe they should get “great” deals everytime.

The truck OP listed would have to be sub 100k miles to sniff that money. And even then it’s just some jackwagon on BAT that will pay it. Nice truck, “4.7 is way more efficient than the 5.7”? Nope. Mine basically get the exact same mileage, except I get 2mpg better on the highway in the 5.7. Probably the 2 extra OD gears.

Had similar with a Gretsch center-block electric I was looking at a couple years back.

Guitar Center had some absurd deals in weeks up to and even after Black Friday. They had the guitar I wanted in stock, just north of $550, MSRP was closer to $800, but you could typically find new for $650 all day or $450-500 used.

Some guy with one gently used on CL was asking $600. I reached out just to shoot the shit and see how firm he was, in case he'd get down into the typical used range. Linked him up with Guitar Center's and even Musicians Friend's websites with comps to show his price was high and I could walk in to buy a brand new one cheaper, that day. Dude was adamant he paid MSRP and wouldn't accept his "fair price".

I have alerts for Gretsch, Gibson and a couple others on our local CL. That guitar flagged in my alerts for months, probably a good 16-18 months. I'd get updates every time he bumped it to the point I almost turned it off.

Glad I didn't though, I ended up scoring one identical for $420 with a hardcase case from some stoner dude north of town who seemed more stoked about my offer price of "420" than actually selling the guitar.

People can be so thick sometimes. (I'm sure I do it too...)
