Little update: Dropped the truck off this morning for the install of everything (fuel pump, hardwire kit, injectors, pulley, belt, coupler replacement). Their lead installer was out sick today unfortunately, so I may not be able to get the truck done until Wed/Thurs. Covered all the bases with the 2 boxes of items I dropped off. Jeff drove me down the street to Enterprise to get my rental and we chatted a bit since I hadn't seen him in almost a year since I was last at their shop for sliders and the dual arb. They are going to install my Innovate PSB1 gauge as well. I attempted to mount the gauge in the air vent using the GlowShift ring, but never got it as solid as I hoped it would be...Jeff suggested the CravenSpeed mount which I ordered this morning with next day shipping. Hoping the gauge pod comes in tomorrow so I can swing back and drop off the gauge and pod for install.

 

Wanting some more insight to a few things. Stock Maggie getting ready to go to 2.3 pulley, dw300c 340lph pump, dw 650cc injectors. Wondering if it is necessary to go to larger pump/injectors when going to this pulley? Have read a few places that the Green injectors/mag fuel pump were fine. I would assume the larger pump/injectors are needed to achieve 20% reserve capacity. I take it I will also need one of the smaller belts? Are the stock mag plugs (IKH22) are fine or need to move to IKH24?

 

The 650s will be fine, but you'll probably be at 90-95% duty cycle with a rich (conservative) tune. Most people on here run the 650s, if you want to go smaller than a 2.3 at any point then you might run out of injector (or need to bump the fuel pressure). The green injectors are 535cc and the stock supercharger is about the limit for them (if you're at sea level). That pump will be fine. Smaller belt is recommended, the common ones are listed on the first page of this thread. Plugs are kind of a toss up, I still run the stock IKH22s but either should be fine.

 

Perfect setup with the 2.3 IMO. For plugs 22s will work but I went to 24s at my tuners recommendation (DAP). If you have some miles on your 22s you may want to replace them anyway. My Harrop on the 80mm pulley moves 100cc more per engine rev than the Maggie with the 2.3 and I peak at 85% injector duty cycle on the coldest of days (at sea level) and that’s right at redline. Like Sniv said you can increase fuel pressure if you really needed more fuel. Beyond that power level with the 2.3 and the fuel mods, I personally think you’re getting into engine building territory anyway.

 

make sure your cravenspeed clears the cruise control thing on the steering wheel. my AEM bezels rubbed it. might need to finagle it a bit.

Thanks for the tip. I wasn't sure Westcott would do the AFR gauge so I was planning on taking it to Dyno Comp for that to be installed at a later date. During the short drive to the car rental lot I brought it up and he said they could get it done if I wanted, so I quickly ordered the Craven mount, just hoping it comes in early enough tomorrow so I can swing by the shop and drop it off along with the gauge while the truck is still there. Personally, I think the ac vent mount looks the best, but I wasn't happy with the fitment I was able to get with the ring adapter...now I need to order a new ac vent since I hacked mine up a bit.

Since I'm only going to be running a single gauge I can just use the left side mount only on the Craven and shouldn't run into any issues on that side correct?

 

Replacement Aeromotive came, installed an AN6 right angle connector at the fuel rail & ran it to the driver side, and ran the pressure gauge inside.

 

No sweat with one gauge

 

As @snivilous alluded to in an earlier post

the boost gauge is a good efficiency meter

it tells you a lot of what the motor is doing from a vacuum standpoint

I know if i see anything over -10, I’m not getting good mileage

not that any of y’all are monitoring fuel usage!

I can cruise on flat hwy doing -10 boost and get 20 mpg at 63mph.

 

As a comparison, what is the manifold air pressure of a n/a tundra cruising on the hwy?

WOT would just be zero. When your boost gauge reads 0psi, you can kinda sorta think of that as a N/A truck at WOT.

 

I have a longer gauge hose & ordered an adaptor to connect a second gauge at the FPR, is there a problem with that idea?

I want to use the Aeromotive gauge inside.

 

You don’t want a line with gasoline in it run into the passenger compartment.

Did your psb1 gauge come with a relay? It sounds like one may be included, but I didn't get one with my kit.

Dropped off the Innovate PSB-1 gauge this morning to add that to the install list. Unfortunately, their lead tech is still out sick so truck won't be touched until tomorrow now and hopefully done by end of day Friday. Of course, USPS is already behind schedule with the cravenspeed mount which now shows delivery by Wednesday evening. I'm just having Westcott install the gauge and resting it on the steering column. I'll throw it into the mount later after the truck is all done.

I don't see any option on Innovates site to order the relay that was missing from the box so I need to give them a call. Does anyone know if the relay is actually needed? I browsed through the manual and read a handful of posts on other sites where some noted it was not needed at all when using the PSB-1 as a standalone AFR/Boost gauge.

 

It would be wise IMO to use the relay for isolation purposes of that circuit from the ciritical ignition circuit (assuming that’s what you’re using). It will reduce the load on that circuit and also if anything shorts out with the gauge/wiring it’s less likely to effect your truck’s electrical circuitry. You can get any old relay from an autozone or similar. It just has to be good for whatever amperage the gauge requires. I thought about that, just wasn't sure how much of a load it really put onto another circuit. From what I gather, the relay that should have been included was a 30amp. I'm sure Westcott has relays on hand if one is truly required. I guess I'll just leave it in their hands on how they want to proceed. I doubt I'd be able to get a replacement from Innovate by the end of the week anyways. I was trying my hardest to ensure I had everything ready to go for them to make it as easy as possible.

 

Well crap...guess I'll need to give them a call and see if they have one on hand or if I need to grab one from somewhere and drop it off too.
