Hello Tundranauts.... I'm hoping I can get a lot of valuable info from like minded DIY, hobbist and enthusiast.

I'll be getting a 23 Limited by the end of April (actually goes in to be built today) early May. Some things I might get after my purchase is a TRD Skid plate. First off, can one go on a Limited model? Also, I was watching a YouTube video about a "flap" under the engine that automatically engages and disengages and certain speeds....what is that?

Sorry if I sound out of touch....new to the Tundra world.

Welcome! Yes you can install that skid. That flap is an air damn...supposed to help with aerodynamics.

If you're getting a limited with the TRD OR package I don't think you get it.

I'm definitely not running down that rabbit hole...more of putting feelers out to see what a general consensus is for what mods most people recommend vs non essentials.

I have the platinum and the only upgrade you need for day to day use is nothing at all . I needed the trd skid plate because of my work environment and plan to get some protection for the cad converter .

    All depends on use .

Also thinking of added air bags for the back but on the fence .

Ok so here is another one.... the 23 Limited comes with 20 inch wheels... solely for aesthetics. From what I've read online 18 inch are a better ride...with a lot more tire options. I'm not looking to replace from the get go...but down the road when I need tires is when I'm going to assess this. So I'm in info gathering mode until then.
    Thoughts on that?

Thanks LimiteFL....I am also thinking about the bed step. As for the bed itself....if I get a cap...I'm going BedRug...had one in my Nissan Titan....and LOVED IT! So not over thinking it for the 23 Limited if I get a cap. I might start with a tonneau cover. Its coming with a sprayed-in liner.

I have a Limited TRD OR and have that silly air dam. Looks weird deployed (at least to me).

Welcome to the Forum. Agree with running boards. Several members have mentioned the cover on the side of drivers seat cracked from getting in and out. I added TRD aluminum running boards primarily to reduce long term wear on edge of seat and side cover. I’m 6’2 so getting in and out was easy but plan to keep my Tundra for a very long time. Second reason was to help my bride not complain every time she climbed in. ;)
Third reason was to reduce paint chips from stones kicked up by front tires on bottom of doors and leading edge of bed that flares out. I already had paint chips on bed at 7000 miles. Mud flaps help also if you didn’t get the TRD OR Pkg. Enjoy your new Tundra.
