My 3rd gen 3.5TT is 8 months old and from day one it has made a “Ca clunk!” Sound roughly 80% of the time on start up. Appears to be coming from drivers side lower engine compartment. First time I took it in for service naturally they didn’t find or hear any issues.

just wondering if anyone else has heard this and it may be normal?

What was the fix for TSB-0110-22?

For lack of a better explanation...they update the transmission control module, took about 45min. What I will tell you is that I took mine in for the pop clunk, after the update my truck drove completely different. Shifted smoother, down shifted quicker, is way more smooth during acceleration(not jerky when cold) or after rolling stop, no longer shifts hard when cold and going from "Park" to "Drive" and my pop clunk was gone. If your VIN is fit for this update, I can't encourage you enough to get it.

    Hope this helps!

Can’t find the post right now. Some have posted on this site and other forums having the same clunk. Yet the dealers are saying there Tundra’s are not in the tsb or recall list. Toyota needs to expand the VIN numbers for the updates and recalls.

Follow up. Took my truck in for 25k service and told them about the pop clunk, gave them the T-SB number and 3 hours later they flashed the TCM and for 2 days I haven’t had any more issues. Not sure if it’s in my head but it does seem like it shifts smoother, more effortlessly.

The transmission reflash in the TSB does fix it. Had mine done at 10k miles, and no more clunk on start up
