I know I can’t be the only bass head in here with a boomin system in their Tundra. I deleted my bigger section of rear seat, and got crazy.

Always been a bass head, but never put a real system in any of my trucks, so this was a first for me. Love having a loud daily!

2 competition 12's in a custom double walled box. I have an 8k watt amp powering them and a 4k watt amp for the components in all 4 doors. It's in my 23 year old 4runner and it hits plenty hard for me.

That’s what’s up, Tucson! My wife wants a system in her 4Runner, as well. I already have some of the stuff for it. Probably going to do 2 12”s in a 4th order box for her.

You interested in SQ at all or only SPL? I am in Tucson and my 2002 is SQ all the way. I am interested in helping others tune so that I can learn different software platforms. I use a minidsp and have at least looked at a helix and feel that I could do a good job with it. Measurements with a UMIK1 and REW.

Yeah my runner is tuned for SQ as much as possible with my pioneer deck and digital amp. It sounds good but if you can make it sound better I'm down. I also need my tundra tuned. Did the install myself and I tuned it to the best of my ability but it could definitely be better.

Whelp, going SQ basically requires an external DSP. Now, if that is not an option (and it makes a world of difference, no amount of $$ spent on speakers can over come a lack of DSP), your headunit might at least allow time alignment and you likely have a graphics EQ. With just that you can get TA close with a tape measure and we could use REW's RTA to see the frequency response.
    What HU are you running?

For example here is a graph from REW showing the raw (no EQ applied) response of the various drivers in my truck.
    338143687_237153502108391_48554381130534_9ba30de523c68423b407ed04d4715b416a1106e2.jpg

Here is a graph of using impulse response on REW to get time alignment down to a fraction of a millisecond. This means that all the sound from the various drivers are getting to my ears at the same time. Hugely important (phasing really) for the sub as when you get this right, it sounds like your sub is on the dash.

That's way to far past my knowledge. My tundra has a dsp1 and I could get one for my 4runner. I have an old pioneer with a fold out screen. It's got time delay and a full eq. Let me see if I can find the model. Let me know when you're free and I can bring the trucks over.

I love Bass and I love SQ. I have so many different presets for different listening experiences. Main ones are: 1. Highest SQ + upfront staging, no rears, windows up. 2. SQ with higher volume, with 1/2 rears, windows down. 3. Highest volume, full rears, windows down... It's a party.

    Current system:
Alpine HU, Morel 3-way Elates up front, Morel 2-way rears, , Audison Amps, JL audio stealth box, ridiculous amounts of sound deadening and acoustic treatments

My system is fantastic, but it has it's shortcomings. I need a deeper sub and without a full external DSP, I can't get the finer details in the tune. It does however satisfy all of my needs without any vehicle compromises. My old trucks were a little different not having to put kids in the back! I had 4 15s in an 02' AC with just the 2 front seats. Whole back was a woofer wall. I'm still a bit deaf from that truck! Lol love da Bass!

Did you at dynamat to the entire cab? I have enough to do it but when i pulled the seats to install the stealthbox I felt the back and floor had plenty. Also what options are you considering for deeper bass, I don't feel there is anything I can do unless I start removing seats which isn't an option.

I have done extensive sound deadening and noise control with Cascade audio engineering products.

    https://www.cascadeaudio.com/

They are the absolute best. My entire floor and firewall is lead lined with VB-3 all inside and outside of doors and back wall (inside of outer back wall too) are heavily treated with VB-2-HD as well as the headliner with VB-4 too. Let's just say I have a lot of experience with noise attenuation and environmental sound control and my truck is a tomb!!! And there's is never too much sound deadening when it comes to a vehicle like our coke can thin sheet metal trucks.

    For deeper bass...
I had designed (rough to scale) a custom sub enclosure for the center console that would have two down firing JL audio 12W7s or possibly a single 15" sub but I never went for it because it would require losing my whole center console, and I didn't have a location for a third amplifier or enough power without going to some form of cap bank or dual battery. It would require a lot of effort to get into it and ultimately I was happy enough with what I had.

This speaks volumes (rimshot). It isn't often that someone talks directly to the details that can help car audio truly shine. Time alignment for phase coherency is like flipping a switch for quality. Cohesive sound with a uniform soundstage is a beautiful thing.

I can appreciate the SPL crowd, but I'm Team-SQ all the way. SPL just isn't my thing.

That stuff is legit, I don't think I would ever have enough time to get the truck to that level. I would love to see a picture of the Box you designed. That sounds amazing.

I’ve been saying an original 13.5” W7 down firing in the center console for years. Would be a great setup. Those 13.5s hit deep, hard and tight. Unfortunately, I’m out of the bass game as I’ve permanently damaged my right ear from my high school/college days with 3 eclipses powered by soundstream class a 10.2 amps (which were amazing btw.. were stable wired down below 1ohm). Certainly don’t make them like they used to..

That sub was the unicorn! It was perfectly sized to go low and stay tight. MASSIVE!

So it looks like there are at least a few tweaks that can be done with that HU: time alignment, x over (but that is only going to work for your sub), and frequency response. Shoot me a DM. I am interested in just trying out my methods on different vehicles with any and all constraints. You can listen to my setup as well to see what a dsp can do. I am on the northeast side btw.

Yeah, the SQ crowd is a small group to be sure. For most people, loud, clear and lots of bass is a good sound. I am shooting for balanced frequency response, imaging, large soundstage.
