Came across this video with some interesting circumstances. He says his entire AC unit went out with 2500 miles on his trd pro.
    (1:20 mark)

Has anyone else had issues with AC unit on new gen?

Not greatest youtuber but i’m looking for new gen old gen trd pro comparison to sway me to new gen

I am going to watch it later, but I would chalk that up to “crap happens sometimes” and keep on going.

Little bit of testing the new AC with the new freon type doesn’t get as a cold as the r134a or even r12. Should still blow out the vents at about 45 F or cooler on max cool setting. It is cool, but not ice cold as some older models were.

Maybe first AC issue with that specific problem, but my AC didn't work when I went to pick my truck up Jan 2022. I too was told that was the first and engineers flown in. They kept my truck 35 days or so in the shop, never even took it off the lot, lol. It's been back in for AC service twice since.

Yup, 1234yf is the new stuff in the last few years. More expensive and lower heat capacity than other refrigerants like r134a. Thanks to the government and DuPonts patent on r134a expiring .

Do you have lemon law in your state? Sounds like it could qualify if you continuously have a/c issues for 3rd+ time. I would bug the dealer about swapping it out, i can’t imagine paying that much for a new truck with known issues right out the gate

We do have a lemon law and I contacted Toyota in reference to it. Long story short, nothing is easy. Yes, I meet the requirements of the lemon law but Toyota doesn't make anything easy or consumer friendly. I was advised to submit a request to proceed with that claim and their legal team had 90 days to review the claim and then 30 to respond. If approved, they would then "buy the vehicle back" at the "appropriate market value". I asked what that meant and they said they would calculate the depreciation based on the months of ownership at the time of buyback....and that includes the 4 months they take to process. They would not allow a trade, so I would literally lose money going the lemon law route. Could I get a lawyer? Sure, at what expense in the end. I got them to give me a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty if I kept it. They even tried to get out of that, took me a full 12 months and God knows how many calls to get it out of them.

To say I am disappointed in Toyota customer service is quite an understatement. I am pretty sure I am one and done with this brand.
