What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Well this was not today, but I finally found a window to get this upgrade done.

 

@shifty` I’ll have to revisit this soon I have some mini projectors I got a while back and haven’t installed yet. And thanks for the recommendation on the end links, I tried to match the somewhat vague instructions they sent, spun them down a couple more times. Super annoying clunk is gone!

Going to clean it up a bit more tomorrow and maybe this weekend I’ll get around to putting raptor liner on it

 

I just replaced the rest of dash lights with leds and finished the interior lights! Got all replaced except for one license plate light and the cigarette lighter socket. I ain’t touching that lol. But it all looks amazing now! So clean and bright! Only thing I don’t like is I couldn’t replace the airbag and gas lights with led. I knew about the gas light but when I changed the airbag light it was always on even when the truck was off lol. So I changed it back. So happy with all the led retrofit I’ve gotten done! Just need to pick up one more 168 or 194 same thing lol bulbs and replace the last license plate light over and I’ll be set!


My picture here shows the lights and how much dimmer the airbag light is compared to the rest which are now led.

 

My general rule of thumb is the same with any "sandwiched" bushings, like what we have on our rear upper shock mount. You want to tighten just enough to "engage" the bushing, starting to compress it, like you begin to see the vertical side wall start to push outward. Just not to the point it's bulging out and hamburger shaped.

Anything bulging as much as parenthesis ( ) or more than this is too much IMHO. Basically, if you under-engage the bushing, it can't do its job, and if you over-engage, you'll eat through bushings.

 

Man I hope you're right. Took me years to find the perfect RV. Got it just before the pandemic. All I do with it is trips to the beach. I've decided to sell it this year. I opened the roof hatches & aired it out the other day. No sign of rodents!

My son sold his silver 05, which means I lost my storage spot for the topper. Put it on the truck until I can figure out what to do with it.

 

Finished the Coastal Offroad bumper & removed the old man side steps

 

I changed all mine out on that center cluster and that mother lover doesn't light up at all now. Frustrating.

 

Do you mean jaw clenching? I have that issue wearing a mouth guard for TMJ in my sleep. What does he specifically do to help prevent it from happening?

 

You're gonna make me have to do this to mine. I'm about sick of my lenses looking not so great even after cleaning. Light output also just mediocre. You tell me the light output is great and I'll probably dive into this as well.

 

I'm ready to bake my chinesium lights apart and throw some projectors in there too.

Mine are 3 inch bi-led projectors and they sent me amber flashing halos instead of the DRL white/amber switchback halos. They have dim yellow and less dim yellow light on them so I may wire them in as turn signals and I may not. The wires on them are plenty long so I'll just see what happens later on.

 

LEDs? Have you tried turniing them around in the sockets? Aka reversing the polarity

I want some for my 2wd. How do you remove the diffuser?

 

I did these too; had to remove the headlights to do it, but you just unscrew the shield from the back and mangle it out, I just bent with needle nose until it fit out the back.
Totally worthwhile upgrade. I would like to have an extra set on hand in case they go out since they’re not available locally like halogen bulbs would be.

 

I’m thinkin maybe I should’ve invested in switchpros…..

One thing to keep in mind; I don't believe there is a way to remove the diffuser in such a way that you'll ever be able to put it back the way it was. In other words, it's simple yet irreversible. No going back to halogens without new lens housings. Unless somebody else knows what I don't, but you have to destroy the piece to remove it.

 

yeah, spot on, pretty much irreversible using this technique.

 

Yes, mine are the CO's and he got the BraveWAY's I believe. I only know about mines tho.
Something else I'd like to point out for anyone interested in these, and I say this because they don't mention it anywhere and it bothered me at first, but just used to it now and don't care because the lights work so damn good.... they have a very distinct cutoff, and there is a very fine line of purple between the light and dark. If you look closely at the pics on their ad you can see it against the garage door, or whatever it is. Also, above the cutoff, you can't see shit, so it's important to adjust them properly. That being said, I have no regrets, and when in doubt, the high beams light up everything like daytime.

 

Did you get them with fans? I'm confused by their pricing. It more expensive without fans???

 

Yea, if you've never had a vehicle with projector lights before, the first time you drive around with them new projectors, it feels weird because the cut-off shield cuts off the light above a certain point so only the light below that level is projected out on the roadway. This keeps the light out of other driver's eyes but it can still be weird due to the contrast darkness just above the cut off line. Then you hit the high beams and if the projectors/bulbs are decent, bam, light everrywher. I also like the wide projection of the light to the sides.

Yeah thats a bit confusing, but if you check their details, they both have fans. The only difference I could see is that the higher dollar set claim 600% light output and the lower dollar- $400% The set I bought are the $66, and when I did, there was no 2nd option for the lesser.

If you're asking about which housings, yeah they're made to be installed in OEM housings but I just bought a pair of new knockoffs to install them into, and held onto my original factory housings in case the bulbs were a failure
