I started having a problem with my radio. The volume would turn down by itself randomly. The voice prompt would come on randomly. When I turned off the truck, the radio would come back on. Sometimes immediatly and sometimes during the night. Also at about the same time frame the doors would not lock randomly. I called the local dealership and they said it would cost about $850. to trplace the door lock. At the same time I ordered a radio from Bestbuy. When they installed the radio, the door locks started working again.

Is everything working correctly since you had the radio replaced?
Does it still randomly come on and off?

There are some door lock settings in the radio that may have caused your issues with the stock radio..

I had a 2014 and had issues with the radio too. Take it to the dealer. There's a TSB on it.

 

Lowlife, if thats the case, that explains why the door locks are working now. I had no idea. Everything functions correctly. Thanks, Jim. Texas. I didn't know a TSB(?) was a thing. I'm guessing it's like a recall. However I like the Pioneer better anyway. And I only had to lay out $550. I joined because I had found info on this site that helped me. Hopefully I will be able to help someone with my issues.

BTW. I neglected to mention, in 2016, while it was still under warranty, the original radio was blanking out on real hot days. They replaced it. I found out about the issues with these radios on this forum a couple of weeks ago. That helped me decide what to do.

TSB= Technical Service Bulletin. A TSB is a notification made to dealers and authorized service centers about any identified issue that will likely affect a vehicle model. It explains the issues and provides instruction for the service center to remedy. It can happen on non-recall related issues.
