    Welcome.

Feel free to browse the forum... Lots to digest here.

For you specifically, with a hybrid powertrain, seems like some people are complaining about the internal finish, or maybe wind noise on the highway. Everything else seems to be just fine with a Trd pro... In general

As always there are issues here and there…as we are now into the second year of production the old issue seem to get taken care off and a few new ones can creep in.

If I was a betting man however, I would say most people are enjoying their trucks and dealing with any specific issues as they arise.

So welcome and hope you enjoy yours too

I have 2023 1794 TRD build date Nov 2022. Love it so far. Zero serious problems. One recall: cluster display going blank, new sw to fix it. Also requested the trans firmware flash update per a TSB. Both done no cost and no hassle. Also had dealer turn off piped in engine sound, should have been a menu item on vehicle settings, IMHO. Like many others, the OEM tires are pretty crappy. Was tempted to run them till wore out anyways, but plan to tow so went with aftermarket Coopers. The only "problem" is the front end alignment was a tad off and steering wheel maybe 5 degrees off center. Turns out Toyota updated the alignment specs (possibly due to premature tire wear, so another thread says), but Toyota has 12 month adjustment warranty, or so the dealer says, not sure if it's dealer driven or actual Toyota. But all the above was zero cost, zero hassle.

On to the good stuff: loads of power in a non hybrid. Love the twin turbo. Gas mileage, pretty good. Maybe not the best in the class, but mid pack I'd say. Mine is quiet, others have had wind noise but that seems to be fixed with 2023's. Ride is quite good IMHO. I think a little jittery at mid speeds on rough road, but it's a 1/2 ton and seems no different than an F150 with some jitters I had years ago so I'm happy. Other than that the ride is superior AND handling much better.

The 1794 is full of features. Love the floor lighting, pano sunroof, AC power outlets. TRD brings in decent off road suspension, maybe not the best in class again, but by far the best I've ever had for what that's worth.

The only other 1/2 ton I'd consider is the RAM. It has maybe softer suspension and more storage pockets. But the 1794 is plenty good for me.

Having followed this forum for a year now, here is my (personal) advice:
1- If you go used, get a 2023, fewer annoying problems, although Toyota has fixed most of the 2022 issues under warranty. (I'll get flamed on this one...)
2- Get a TRD because resale will be better...well, around here in Idaho every pre 2022 Tundra is TRD and every Tacoma is TRD, so I'd be the odd man out if I was selling a non TRD.
3- Keep your expectations realistic: It's a low/middle of the pack payload/towing truck, middle of the pack features and storage, middle of the pack fuel economy. Probably best in class or at least tied for best on acceleration. But best in class likelihood of longevity and so far for me, Toyota has been nothing short of perfect on making me a happy customer.

I should add in that according to others on this forum, yea, there are some issues with the Tundra especially 2022's, but if one looks at RAM or Ford forums, those problems are serious, as in really serious. So it seems that the Tundra is past most of the serious stuff and only has stupid annoying things remaining.

The big question: would I buy it again? I chose the Tundra primarily for Toyota's reputation and secondarily for it's (the 1794) comfort. It seems that the newer RAM is also getting good reliability reviews, so that would propel the RAM to par with the Tundra in my eyes. In short, YES, I would buy it again...but I would give RAM another look and if my wife didn't hate the RAM styling it might be a toss up with a new RAM. I put the competitors styling as: RAM- good if you want a contractor truck; F150 the best classic look; Chevy- just plain dumb, a box with some curves. The Tundra beats all of them hands down, and I get favorable comments just about everywhere I go with it. Don't know enough about price on comparable models to comment on that as of this writing.

Hope this helps. You'll get a lot of dissent on my views I suspect. Let the flaming begin :)

Update: on the Toyota reliability topic, look into this forum and you will find cases where Toyota engineers have gone out to inspect new and serious problems. I don't think you will find Ford, RAM or GM engineers doing this much or at all.

I think it’s an awesome truck. Power, capability, looks, performance, and so on. Tows great. Mileage is decent. I average 18+. Easy to get over 20 on the highway. Engine and transmission pairing is excellent.

Does have some wind noise. Lots of plastic in the SR5. Does not seems as solidly built interior wise as my old GMC. Had to add a bed step. No usb or power in back seat.

So the really important parts they did great. The detractions are really just little things.

Overall the spirit of the vehicle is quite good and the importance is that they got the real parts of the truck really good. I can complain about a squeaky arm rest, but I’d prefer to concentrate on other stuff, like driving!

Too early to tell…a few early turbo issues but reliability (as compared to the last gen’s) will be determined in a couple 3-5 years.

There are a couple of trucks with higher miles at around 40k miles that had engine issues, and or turbos, but so far it's hard to say if these are just one offs or more will come. We just don't have the enough milage and years with this engine/turbos
