They are truly a royal pain. Went to visit my brother in a HOA community, in my work truck, at the time a F-350 Lariat pickup. Come out of his and someone pasted a big ass orange sticker on driver side windshield. Indicating a tow. I was pissed to say the least, but my brother already knew who posted it on there and had to wait for the sob to get out of his house. Not 10 minutes later the douche comes out and we are sitting outside talking. Proceeds to go up to my brother and tell him how he’s a disgrace for allowing such a truck parked in front of his home. At this point it was beyond the boiling point with me, so I interrupt the conversation and asked him which was his house and what did he drive? He pointed to his house and I started chuckling and told him that I think you got values in reverse. First off I would be embarrassed to live in this neighborhood seeing what all your neighbors have and drive. The Honda civic that’s at least 15 years old and full of rust should be condemned and not allowed in the neighborhood. You would think if you could afford a house in here, you should be able to afford at least a nicer car to park out front. Needless to say that pickup is worth more then all your cars combined. And since the truck hasn’t been parked over 24 hours, you better figure out a way to take off that sticker without damaging my truck, or we will have a bigger conversation about it. He did manage to get the sticker off with effort. Politely told him if he ever places a sticker on that truck or any vehicle for that matter he would be dealing with me.

One thing HOAs have in common. Karens sit on the board. Bunches of Karens.

Rivian owner ditching their truck for a Toyota.

Again - a lot of people who shouldn’t be early adopters are jumping on the bandwagon - and getting burned in the experience. The concept is good - but paying $85k and living with the road bumps and watching as your car is out dated in 3-5 years is not for the majority of buyers.

Nothing like taking out a 7 year note on a vehicle - only to have severe envy of the latest model 3 years later with all the “upgrades”. And for many EV owners - that’s BEST case. If you love ‘em and can live with it - by all means fund some massive experiment by a company hoping to be the Tesla competitor we all need to drive pricing and technological improvements.

IDK, it looks like a lot of Gen 3 Tundra buyers are dealing with bigger problems than this guy.

Maybe it's that EV owners think they should be allowed to do whatever they want.

Exactly my point when posting this - it’s that 5% of EV owners that drive me crazy. Stupid mindset of “I paid a lot of money for my vehicle - I’m special” coupled with “I’m saving the environment - everyone should be thanking me for doing good”.

What you paid for a vehicle is meaningless to what type of person you are and yes EVs produce less emissions overall - but the total impact on the environment and world population is debatable (that lithium they use isn’t exactly a “green” material and the populations working in the extraction process aren’t necessarily well treated).

Again - EVs are the future - no dispute here. But suggesting everyone should just drop fossil fuels and adopt today is not happening nor should it - we are a couple of major advancements away.

The whole industry kinda reminds me of Apple in the early 90s - pre Jobs return. All those loyalist running around telling us how “advanced” their computers were and how they were worth the 3-5k price point when comparable PCs sold at half that price point. In certain applications - they were better - but if you weren’t using Photoshop or specialized software for video/photo editing - the “advantages” were limited - and there were limitations and issues. Sure - they were more reliable and less buggy - but for the average buyer - you were better off buying the cheaper competitors and then upgrading in a few years versus being “loyal” and buying thinking of it as a long term investment. Eventually- the upstart made enough improvements and the end result was a better product - but it took time and a lot of $$ - and that money is coming in courtesy of those who funded overpriced products.

I can see how this is going to end. Out before the bans begin.

A quick search indicates that the driver was trying to pull the Rivian out with the assistance of a recovery vehicle. It sounds like he didn't put the truck in the proper state for a recovery, and the Rivian put itself into a safety mode to prevent damage to the drive motors.

The Rivian forums are talking about this incident and by all accounts the driver is to blame. The driver seems to have been charged $2100 by the tow company and not by Rivian. Rivian owners are claiming he could have reset the vehicle himself.

The driver here was 24. I was pretty dumb when I was 24 too.
