The ignition still cranks but truck won't start. It's like it's out of gas but it's not. Only has 35K on it and can't figure out what has happened. It's sitting on the side of the road as I type! Anybody out there have a suggestion for me other than to tow it into the dealership? The only thing on the dash is Trailer Brake Error and Pre - Collision System Malfunction. ???

Are you within walking distance of an auto parts store where you might be able to buy an OBD reader?

I've got a guy who works for Hyundai as a mechanic coming to look at it this afternoon. I was just hoping I might have some idea of how to guide him, but he's a friend and a good mechanic.

At least you are still under warranty at 35K miles and less than three years.

For the hell of it, I would try disconnecting the negative battery terminal for 15 minutes or so to reset the ECM. Good luck.

Thank you I'm going to try that. I disconnected it at first but not for long enough. Thanks for the feedback fellas. I appreciate it.

Definitely x2 on the neg battery term disconnect for a short bit....

Not to throw out some voodoo shit or anything, but I wonder if the anti-theft systems in these things cut off the fuel pump... If so, and the neg terminal thing doesn't work, you may try exiting the vehicle, closing all the doors/windows and such, locking it (to engage the anti-theft), and then unlock again, get it and try starting it as you normally would (kinda like a reset for the security system especially if it's connected to the fuel pump) :notsure:

Good luck on it being an easy fix, and I hope it's resolved quickly and doesn't leave you stranded!

I know it sounds krazy but have your buddy bring 5 gallons of fuel.
