Retrax. Ready lift. Just bought 3 weeks ago! Looking to add a rack system and winch bumper, then move from there.
Hoping someone has been in a similar situation as I am. Recently purchased a 2021 TRD pro with a 2in ready lift kit already installed. Ordered a C4 overland bumper last night and plan on putting the X20 GEN3 12K winch on as well. Didn't even think about the weight because with my 4runner, I already had BP51 shocks I could adjust when i added an ARB and winch. Has anyone put a bumper and winch on stock TRD suspension and if so how was it? Really not wanting to upgrade suspension as I like how it rides currently.

It will handle the weight but the front suspension will sag about 1" give or take with the added weight. Don't think you will notice any poor ride comfort as a result but it will increase the rake you currently have.

Yeah I had Bilstein 6112's with 650lbs coil springs on my 21 the warn vr evo 12k winch and c4 overland mid hoop bumper droped it 1.25" extra weight was appx 240lbs. If you updgrde the suspension you would want 700lb coil springs.

Thanks for the input guys! i was going to try and figure out how i could stand on the front tonight to recreate the winch and bumper weight, would at least give me a good idea.

It’s nothing crazy, definitely shouldn’t have to replace the suspension. I’ve been running mine with a very similar setup for quite some time now with no issues.

So I’m pretty surprised. I strung some webbing between my tow hooks, put 70lbs of weight in a backpack and stood on the strap. I weigh 194 and according to my measurements, barely moved 1/16th of an inch. I’m wondering since the ready lift basically adds compression to the springs that it’s enough to counteract the additional weight

    Too many, but not enough....
Maybe increase bump stops to ease nose diving or bottom outs with the weight.

Here are a few. Been really happy with it so far on the couple weekends I’ve spent in the mountains. Not hardcore off roading but hit some forest service roads pretty quick with pot holes and also some off camber stuff and so far so good. Not a lot of pics yet as I just got it. Already got some good pinstripping though!

Adding compression to the springs does nothing to change spring rate, so your lift kit is neither hurting nor helping the situation. I did the same test on my GX before adding a winch and bumper. I weigh 240 and the Lexus barely moved when I stood on the bumper before the install. After the install I lost about 1/3" of static ride height. Reality didn't exactly match up with the test, but it was close enough.
The difference that you'll notice is in your spring rate and rebound/damping. I have 650lb springs on a much smaller truck so the effect isn't that drastic and actually makes the truck ride a little better. In your case, not sure what the TRD Pro front spring rate is, but generally you'll want to add 50-100lbs of additional spring rate or your front end will dive on braking and you may get a little more bounce since your dampers and springs are set up for a lighter weight. I'd worry less about losing a 1/2" or so and more about how the truck will feel driving with that extra weight up front. It won't necessarily be a drastic change, but it will certainly be noticeable. Thanks for the input, makes sense what you are saying. I guess I'll wait and see what happens, worse case I have to upgrade the the front coilovers as i don't know if i can replace just the springs with the TRD shocks.

‘20 TRD Pro stock owner here! Just ordered CBI front bumper, Bed rack, and roof rack last night. Did you ever upgrade the coilovers?

Nice! I never did and so far it's been great. Haven't noticed any change to driving feel. I'm sure you'll be happy with it!

It is not the shocks that you need to be concerned with but the coil springs.
