Back ground- A year ago tomorrow my cats were stolen from a 2014 tundra crew max limited 2wd. After get new ones, exhaust and ecu the dreaded p0705 light came on. Only issue was "D" was not showing on the display, but No problems driving, no lights out just the check engine light and traction control off. I changed the Neutral safety switch and nothing happened.

Last week my son hit another car (all ok) and after the wrecker driver pulled the bumper off the front tire he was able to drive (did not turn engine off during investigation/report being written at the scene). He tried to start it back and nothing would happen. no power to starter or any sounds at all. Just this time only "S" showed up on the dash. Collision shop scanned the computer and got the p0705 reading and the estimator for insurance told them it was unrelated to the accident and would not pay. No one can give me an explanation on how the truck can be driven and hit another car, but not start after and be totally uninvolved in the accident. The shop manager told me they had the same problem on another vehicle recently that needed a complete transmission (5800.00) after a rear-end accident and insurance would not pay.

I am at a loss. Anyone have any feedback?

No one gets what they deserve. They get what they negotiate. You may need to better prove your new symptom is related to the accident.

Need a few more details. How bad was the wreck? Pictures? Damage? To what part of the truck?

I assume when the cats were stolen a year ago a wire was broken from the Range sensor on the transmission. This killed the D indicator.

Now post collision you say all the gear shift indicators are not working. When you put the key in to on and hold the brake can you shift through the gears? Or does the gear shifter feel stuck in park?

Starter doesn’t even try to turn the engine over with key? Correct?

The truck uses the range sensor as a neutral start/safety switch. Basically if the truck doesn’t know you are in Park or Neutral it will not engage the starter.

Correct- stolen cats and wires cut to 02 sensors and damage could have been done to wire leading to Neutral Switch.

Main damage was to the right corner as my so failed to yield right away to on coming car. They are replacing core support, and all other parts of grille/bumper assembly.

When key was on, all lights lite up and when key was turned they did not even dim, no gages moved and no sound from starter.

The transmission shifter was easily moved through each gears when the key was turned on and break pressed. Rolled as usual when put into neutral.

I would bet strongly you have an issue with the range sensor and the truck not knowing the truck is in Park or Neutral. As I mentioned above it will not engage the starter unless it knows you are in one of these gears.

I would start by checking the fuses in the fuse box under the dash. More specifically the 7.5A AM2 and 10A BK/UP LP to start.

You could also go to the start relay (ST Relay) and check for voltage on the Red wire pin 1 when the key is turned to start. My bet is that it will not be there but it should.
