So I lost all my power steering fluid and never had a warning light on my dash or anything to indicate I had a problem. I see that there is a sensor to buy when I was shopping for the pump. Should I change the sensor? What's it's job if it isn't to tell me I'm low on fluid? The only reason I knew was the familiar sound of a dry pump.

I just figured no fluid would cause a pressure discrepancy

I would have thought the same thing. However, spending $170+ for no reason at all sucks.
