The vehicle in question is a 2001 SR5 4.7 Tundra. The left lamp is out on the cargo / bed light, and I want to buy one locally but I haven't found the wattage of the lamp on the Toyota parts description, just a part number and no number on the lamp. Does anyone maybe have the specs. I did see 16 watts on one site, but that seems a bit too little, but maybe that's correct. Just trying to nail it down. Thanks.

Are you OK with LED replacements? I know you're an OEM junkie.

Thanks, no i want OEM incandescent lamp, further research still supports a 12 volt 16 watt lamp. Unless I hear differently, I will probably hit Napa and see what they have behind the counter in a 16 watt wedge base. OEM junkie, I like that. I put a heavily modified Suzuki dr650 all back to stock a few years ago. Just the way I roll.

You may find out that your 3rd brake light housing is melted above those bulb sockets. You can replace the whole housing or glue old CDs to the top of the holes, or just leave it be, up to you. Just something to be prepared for.

Nope. It all looked fine. Just a bad lamp, original from 2001. Why would the housing melt?

Incandescent bulbs make something like 85-90% heat versus the remaining percentage being light we can see.

Everyone that I've ever seen put in LEDs has said that the housing was melted due to the heat. You must be an outlier.

Anyways, the V6 housing was melted. Crackies housing was melted.

I installed VLEDS in both trucks. Much brighter, much longer life. More light per power. Less heat. I even replaced the high mount stop light assembly with NEW OEM on the V6. Those leds went from wow to WOW with full OEM reflectivity from non melted housings.
