With that being the case thats really then an Android issue. I guess it querys outbound traffic and doesnt receive anything disconnects to join another wifi network.

Oh well, there are tips and tricks to everything. Especially Tundras, hence the reason why we are all here.

Are there any 3rd party cameras that integrate the same way as the Toyota half-baked solution? I love the tight and seamless installation of the Toyota camera with pulling power from the factory harness.

Edit: This might be a good source to use the factory harness for a 3rd party camera.

I've had the Toyota dash cam for almost a year. I also have an iPhone 12 pro. The phone won't connect unless I turn off Bluetooth on the phone. Once Bluetooth is off it works as advertised.

I'm on iPhone 13 pro and my connections have been great download speeds aren't the fastest but it gets the job done I still need to test out the audio function but haven't had much time to mess with it but overall impressed with the design and quality of the video (1080p @ 30 fps). I haven't upgraded the sd card yet but I did find one thing that stabilized my connection to the dashcam. When you are in ignition on mode disconnect your phone's bluetooth from the truck and then go to settings while toyota dashcam app is open in the background connect thru settings and drag down to connect I was able to retrieve a lot of files without any drop might just be my unit but the only thing that doesn't work as intended is the live view feature but I suppose that's probably I bandwidth issue for the modem lol.

Ok, for anyone having the issue with the camera beeping every time you turn the truck on, not being able to connect, etc. I fixed mine yesterday. Here’s the steps I took:

1: Get a new SD card. I got a 64gb one since that’s all the store had when I went. You can use up to a 128gb one.
2: Reset the dash cam password because I couldn’t remember what I set when I got it.
3: Turn everything off, including the truck. Put the new SD card in.
4: Turn off Bluetooth on the phone, connect to the dash cam wifi.
5: It will show a “storage full” message in the app. Reformat the new SD card through the dash cam app.

Worked perfectly after that. Ultimately 14 bucks for a new SD card and less than 10 minutes to get it back working. I just tossed the old SD card. It was only 16gb even of it worked.

Needs to be a reasonably fast one. Bought a 128 gig sandisk extreme.
I'm going to pop it in shortly and make sure it works.

Update put it in, formatted it and away it goes. Seems to be working fine.
I had to start it with the old card, connect it to my phone.
Once in I removed the sd card and put in the new one.
From there I formatted it, it went beep and I checked it later on.
    Files are being recorded.

I think I am doomed. That didn't work either. I have a phone appointment tomorrow ( I live 1.5 hours from the dealer ) so will see what the " camera specialist " has to say.

Things in a box now for refund. 5 different phones cannot make this work. Tried everything a person can research for 12 days and still no joy. I have discovered that there appears to be 2 versions of this camera and 1 app to operate either so maybe thats the stop point. Who knows, I am moving to a different manufacturer. Shame for Toyota as I planned on buying 4, me, wife, kids, Guess that 0.5 star rating it gets might be justified

Yeah that stinks, the aftermarket units out there are pleantiful. I have a few cameras on other cars. As long as its a popular brand and quality memory all should be ok.
All I care about when using these is that the picture is clear, it overwrites and takes a large micro SD card. Once programmed I pop the card out into a USB adapter to view it on a laptop of PC.

Was looking at the A139 Pro, the downside is that the camera/lens is on the right side of the unit. It would be best if it was on the left hand side of the unit, and that way you could mount the dashcam where the OEM one would go.

The reason I went with the Viofo A229 was because I was able to mount it higher on the windshield with the camera/lens just sticking beneath the dots on the windshield.

For those installing Blackvue dash cam, can you mount it behind the rear view arm instead of directly on the windshield so you can still use a covercraft sunshade, for some reason my installer said the plastic would be too weak to hold the dashcam? F242C775-3DCD-4E6D-BCA8-5ED0108D6AE2.jpg

First I want to say I zero affiliation with this company only a consumer...

I will say it is the cleanest install, this should be what Toyota Sells as their dashcam, also super easy to install. I installed it today it took about 10 minutes (maybe) it was very simple. It took longer to get to connected to my phone as Android Auto kept kicking it off, but once connected I could use the app and change any settings I needed and take a snapshot. I will probably just pull the card if I need video off it.

Everything in the box: It came with 64GB Card already installed can't see in the picture but easily removes from one side. there is a button to take a picture on the bottom of it not sure if I would ever use it.

Plugged in super easy to the Grey metal box and and into the camera cord put it back together Forgot to take picture of it apart but here is it put back together.

Picture down my driveway, I just got home from a couple hundred mile drive with a ton of dead bugs on my window probably look better with a clean window. Also sun is sort of starting to go down as it was almost 7pm

It doesn't make a sound on boot up it just turns on and starts recording I changed it to 4K

I probably should have but I was worried about where I would mount the back camera and run the wires I am hoping there is a possiblity to add the back on one but I am not sure.

Any idea if the installation is different if you have the digital rear-view instead?

Same front piece then you have to run a wire to the back camera, I assume under the headliner or around the outside of it.

I would love to see your solution for mounting the rear camera. This set up seems like a no brainer.
