As per usual, i had a whoopsies. Long story short, I need to know what size the crank pulley bolt is on the 4.7. Scoured the forums, scoured the net, bolt size and pitch Ive not found yet. Ordered a new one, just need to know for the purposes of running a tap .

    Edit : first gen (2000)

    Have you tried extraction yet?

no extraction needed. I just need to know the size and thread pitch. bolt came out but the first two and 5th threads are damaged. Im betting on the last few with some loctite to hold.

Edit: I would measure the bolt for pitch and diameter, but its more than mangled.

Also look at getting a chase vs a tap.

Do you own a tap and die set with gauges? If not, just wait till you receive the bolt and head to the hardware store, they usually have gauges on the bolt isle. Good luck.

Tilly, Im going to the wrecking yard tomorrow and will pull one, even though I ordered one. I just wanted to know because i highly doubt ill be able to find a metric tap of that size locally. Id rather go down to the wrecking yard and get a new motor than make the trip for a bolt and spend time waiting for a tap, i can swap a motor faster than I can wait.

The question still remains; whats the thread diameter and pitch? I don't intend to come off like a dick, however I thought that was a straight forward question , given the provided information. Which I feel hasn't been read by previous commenters. Im stoked on the input, its just not useful.

Tilly, I know how to identify diameter and thread pitch, the bolt is however mangled. It’s the main crank bolt.

If you don’t have the answer to a question don’t answer , but don’t insult my intelligence based off your lack of reading comprehension.

Your intelligence is already in question if you cant figure out if the bolt you already ordered is the correct one or not. Don't blame us for your stupidity.

Ordering a bolt based off a part number is simple, yeah? Finding the actual thread pitch and diameter without one in hand,is apparently not. If you were able to understand what you're reading you’d know the bolt isn’t the subject in question.

Again, I ask you; what is the thread pitch and diameter of the crankshaft pulley bolt on a first gen? (It’s Okay to say you don’t know, tilly. Or even better, tell me what it is and I’ll eat my hat)

If you're too lazy to go to the hardware store for free like I recommended, get one of these, problem solved.

    Entitlement much?

Whew, glad I was sleeping when this one came up.

Exactly. I'd expect this to be basic knowledge, and doesn't require first few threads to be OK.

OP should be lucky he even got a response to such a specific question. I've been to other forums that are so dead you never hear back from anyone.
