    Routine Maintenance:

    - Fluids and capacities
    - Torque recommendations! Every time I google the torque spec for a specific application I get 3 or 4 different answers, often wildly divergent.
    - Light bulb charts (I spent an entire afternoon online trying to find out what rear brake lamps were correct for my truck. Turns out there are 3 tail light assys, and they use different bulbs). I finally found the answer IN THE OWNERS MANUAL! <sigh> RTFM
    - ATF fluid drain/refill. WS vs Dex
    - Et al

Rusty frame issues brought me here two years ago, and for better or worse I decided to stay.

I should add that I peruse the threads here often, and learn something new EVERY DAY!

I usually go to Superbrightleds website and use their bulb finder even if I'm not looking for LEDs. Hasn't let me down yet.
Edit: If I try to look up bulb types for an 05 it doesn't give me the option for double cab or anything like that so could be different I suppose.

Thanks. That's been my go to as well, however, they let me down in this application. No 921 non-CANBUS option, and no definitive answer on 3157s. Also, BTW it turns out that there there are two sizes of the festoon style lamps (dome light, map light) in the Toyota universe (small and large, let's say) but SuperBright recommends the same part (they only offer one, the larger one) for both applications. I had to bend the shit out of the contacts to cram it in there.

I didn’t bother reading through this thread but my vote would be to have a single thread stickied that has one single post with all of the other topics linked within that one single post. Similar to what was going on with the 1st Gen Info Dump thread until Pinay got the axe.

I’m picturing something similar to the DIY Knowledgebase that was on Tundra Solutions until it turned into a link clusterfuck.

Came across this thread while searching for another topic and had the urge to give my thoughts.

Consider unsticking the below 2 threads given no matter how hard we try, they'll never be below top 5 threads active....IMHO

What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

1st Gen. Lunch Table - General Discussion

Then consider what @T-Rex266 suggested in the Info Dump thread....

and perhaps name it 1ST GEN DIY / MODS / TUTORIALS

Then ask @ColoradoTJ, @Squatting Pigeon or any MOD to create said thread.
Then ask them to place the below threads into that thread and simply remove the dump thread OR edit the first post in the Dump thread with the below links and leave the present posts to dump thread, locked of course.

This is in no particular order, they were simply lined up this way as I worked on this.
As for numbers next to link, my thought is that when assisting and link member to DIY etc thread, refer them to item number.

One that I'm not sure of is the one below, so I left it as a sticky....thoughts ?

Let's see your first gen - photo thread

When done, the sticky would look like something similar minus the long list of 17 former links.

    1ST GEN Sticky Lineup.jpg

Thoughts on this TGIF/Friday POLL day !

If the goal is to shorten the amount of threads that are stickied, I agree. There are too many.

Yeah, I assume that is what @shifty` was suggesting when he started the Poll a year ago.

Time to revisit and reopen the poll perhaps. Pictures of your truck don’t need to be a stick, for example.

Note your 14 and 16 are dupes.

But yeah, I tend to agree (still): Things need to be pared down. Some new threads stuck since the original poll, though, so now there's even more clutter.

The only threads I think are really helpful to have stuck up top are:
And I think the following could really just be put in an 'Index' DIY / MODS / TUTORIALS sticky thread as T-Rex mentioned. Or, better yet, just rename the 'Tundras Info Dump' thread to 1st Gen DIY / MODS / TUTORIALS and organize this stuff in it:
And yes, I 100% agree, we need to un-stick the Lunch Table, Show us your 1st Gen, and What'd you do today threads.

Thanks, wanted to make sure you were paying attention :D
    Edit...Fixed

Will agree to disagree on your choice of which thread should be at top or even be a sticky thread but that's because the attempt is to minimize the sticky thread list. I do understand your reasoning on a personal level but feel it's no more important than many of the other sticky threads.

I actually agree with you, with a caveat.

My ideal goal would be keeping it to 3 threads, because that's the max that'll display fully.
    • Code of conduct seems to be a mandatory sticky across all forums.
    • The HOWTO: Parts thread is also copy-stickied to all other generational subforums, but it doesn't mean it has to be.
    • This really leaves us with two threads to prioritize; which will they be? Maybe that should be the focus...

From my side, I'd say there should be a "Read before posting" thread stuck always to the top of the subforum. Hell, the Code of Conduct could technically go in there. But that's another story...

My ideal layout would be one of the following options:
    • READ BEFORE POSTING (1st Gen edition) <<<-- Create new thread. Inside I'd link to (1) intro thread (so you wanna buy), and (1) new DIY thread.
    • Show us your 1st Gen <<<-- this is just a good way to get people engaged
    • Code of Conduct <<<-- This is stickied in every subforum.
    Or better yet...

    • READ BEFORE POSTING (1st Gen edition) <<<-- Create new thread. Inside link to (1) intro (so you wanna buy), (1) new DIY thread, (1) Code of Conduct.
    • Show us your 1st Gen <<<-- this is just a good way to keep new people engaged
    • (Leave open for future sticky, or rotating events/happnings like the T2S thread)

Probably a good time for me to acknowledge that the recent tutorials by @shifty` are the most comprehensive and well written one could find, especially for those just getting into the game, but also for all of us. Bravo. Golden pins for you.

Amen, lots of great contributors past and present on this site, but shifty’s a legend for his work in compiling so much useful crap into as few places as possible. He’s the Justinian of 1GTs.

If shifty shows up to an event and has to pay for a beer we are all doing it wrong

    I'd like:

    1. your @shifty` 'so you want/bought a 1st Gen.' Because as long as you're active, you're Memory Man and are likely to find and post (by adding in to your original posts, ahead of all the later comments by us rabble).

    2. the 1st gen info dump thread that Monet created and which states locked but is accessible with mod help. Because it's not cluttered up with comments by us rabble.

    3. Whichever 3rd, er, 1st + 1st + 1st thread y'all want, I don't care. If there's a clear winner on this poll, easy choice. But yeah, we bump the Lunch Table and What Have You Done threads often enough that they typically stay on page anyway.

Because the only way to stop this being crammed full of comments is to lock the thread. Which requires that only mods can post the links. That's why maybe @Shifty's "want to/bought a 1st gen" thread may be easiest, as long as he's willing to facilitate.

I'll admit, based on another recent conversation in the T2S planning thread, I thought this poll'd be about other sticky stuff.
