2014 SR5 Budget Upgrades?

Looking for budget, best bang for your buck upgrades for my 14' SR5 4.6 2WD truck-160K miles. Truck was a work horse before I got it-construction foremans- and the only thing I have done, other than clean the living heck out of it is to replace all the seat covers with a new OEM set I got a steal on-$80. It's got some dents, dings, etc. that I am fine with as I don't want to make it a show truck. Any ideas would be appreciated.

 

Best bang for buck with 160k on it would be a complete run-through with all maintenance inspected and done on it.

Best "upgrade" IMO at that mileage is
New suspension (shocks) and ball joints.

Best budget (under 200) upgrade is Husky floor mats.
Best ~500 upgrade would be a rear trd swaybar.

Lastly, Best "safety" upgrade would be new LED headlights. I see your in the desert. Makes a big difference in night driving.

 

Thank you. I am sure it's in need of shocks as it was probably overloaded most of it's life-although it seems to ride decent. Does the swaybar make the ride any stiffer?

 

Your truck wont "roll" as much. Makes cornering much better.

If you were close I'd give you my ~10k mile used trd sport shocks I have sitting on my garage floor.

Keep you eye on this sites marketplace. Occasionally someone is getting rid of an oem low mileage set up because they lifted their truck.

I just bought a 14’ SR5(5.7) in December, have been modding it ever since lol I removed all chrome badges from the truck, polished headlights and clear ppf’d, sunstrip tint across top of windshield, I have 18” steel wheels like yours that I had powder coated satin black. Found a sweet private sale for some KO2’s. Swapped out the SR5 grill for the TRD pro heritage grill. Roof wrapped satin black, running boards installed. Found a vinyl tonneau cover for $250 luckily. I bought a scamazon led kit for interior and exterior lights. Makes a huuuge difference. As mentioned by someone above, I plan on upgrading to the LED headlamps within the next few months as well to update the truck completely. Getting the vehicle up to date on fluid changes and maintenance is always worthwhile as well.

Actually, these are just all the things on my list that I've done or am continuing to work on!

 

swap in factory LED headlights
of you tow or mostly a road driver- TRD rear sway
desert does it seat jacker, at least for the driver

all offer a big improvement for the $, but do any needed maintenance items first of course

I’m lifting my tundra this week and will have all 4 stock shocks from my SR5, truck has 15,028 miles. I’m in Orange County

Were those stock wheels(not the black) in the first picture?

 

Best bang for buck I think would:

1. LED OEM TRD Pro headlights and fog lights
2. FRAC setup
3. Sway Bar upgrades, both would be ideal imo but rear for sure.
4. Auto tailgate lock
5. Bed cover and/or bed liner.
6. Ceramic window tint
7. Catalytic Converter plates

Yeah they’re not bad at all. I thought about powder coating them black at one point but I’d rather get some 35 offset wheels instead of the stock 60.. but new rims won’t be this year so I’ll be putting the stock 20’s back on this spring.
