Does anyone know how to get in touch with Tyler? I messaged him on FB and on his profile page here as well. Lots of people leaving messages asking about their plates.

Yup, tried that too.

 

I initially placed my order with him he responded super fast till he got my money then communication stopped. I waited about a week still got no answer so i put a dispute on my card and only then i got an email from Tyler with my order cancellation confirmation. I knew he was a little over a month out but no communication doesn't work so got Talons shields. Shipped same day i ordered.

 

Man, I dunno what happened. I've got two of his cat plates, and it did indeed take a month or so to get my stuff, and it's excellent quality...but that guy needs to have someone handle his comms for him or something.

 

I have VS plates. Knowing what I know now, I’d go with whichever company has good reviews and can get them to me the fastest.

 

Pretty much. I have no problem owning VS stuff, but at the time VS was one of the few games in town. Now several other places are doing it as well, and can get stuff to us quicker.

 

Exactly. It’s a trapezoid-shaped piece of metal with wings, ventilation, and mounting hardware that prevents people from making me waiting 10 months plus for new cats. I don’t really care who builds it at this point.

 

It's been just shy of 5 months. I knew there was a wait, so hadn't tried to contact him until now. It's been a week with no response. I just opened a dispute with PayPal. We'll see how it goes.

 

5 months? That's ridiculous. I mean, I tried @ one point to give him the benefit of the doubt, but with so many other shops doing it, doing well, AND faster, either he's got some internal issues we know nothing about, or organizational skills are lacking, or something. I'd move along and order from someone else @ this point after getting $$ back.

 

Lots of others have waited 4 to 5 months. Talon's has a sale on powder coated steel plates right now. As soon as PayPal comes thru, I'm ordering from Talon's.

 

Valhalla's Shield's communication is horrible. Product looks awesome but it's difficult to comprehend why replying to a customer is so difficult. I work too hard for my money to get ghosted. Just had to dispute the transaction with my CC company to hopefully get my money back. This is a consistent theme on FB and the forums here. It's difficult for me to give negative feedback to a small business but come on man. A reasonable expectation and common courtesy is to reply to customers who've paid you hard earned money i.e. $880.00. I understand that life comes up and things happen but again that's why communication is key when money is involved and you're doing business. Being transparent on your website about four weeks out for product is great, but not communicating with customers is not okay/doesn't build trust/and makes folks uneasy. I hope he can turn things around.

 

I not here to bash Tyler. I give him props for starting a niche business and doing it by himself. I'm self employed also, and it's tough. I just want to put some plates on my truck.

 

You will be happy w/ Talon's. Mine were delivered within a week and the fit is perfect. Good luck w/ the PayPal dispute, hopefully you get your cats protected quickly.

 

Oof that's tough. Hopefully dude is all good. I gave him a fair shake with my money but yeah, sh*t happens and if there is no communication then accountability has to be had.

 

Talon shields are super nice. Can't beat the price that he had (i don't know f he still does) on the coated ones

Talon's coated steel, shipped, is $15 cheaper than Valhalla bare steel.

 

Right and another $110 if you want the valhallas coated. So $160 less (the way i wanted them done) and communication goes a long way. For me at least. If he would have responded all would have been good but shields were needed to I had to do what was right for me. I did give him a chance but a week plus with no responses doesn't work for me. I am in the customer service world for a living. You please one customer they will tell 10, if you piss off 1 customer they will tell everyone they know.

Valhalla was going to run me $680 shipped
Talon was $520 shipped

 

My brother ordered Valhalla, waited two months no communication. Emailed and asked for refund, nothing, PayPal end up crediting him back. My brother ordered Talons, got it a week later, I ordered on a Saturday and got the package on Wednesday.

 

Just got credited by PayPal and placed my order with Talon's.

 

You won't be disappointed

 

I placed my order in December and like with others, communication stopped after he got my $ . Very responsive before I paid. Filed a claim and just got my money from PayPal, so I'm ordering from Talon. Sounds like this Tyler person is in over his head and sitting on a quite a bit of people's $. If he was out racing his car a few weekends ago when he was claiming to have mental health issues, eeehhh just don't buy that. Sounds like an excuse.

 

Doing something he enjoys might help with the mental health issue.

When he’s ready to climb back up on the saddle I fully support buying his product but in the meantime it’s best to just go with Talon or whoever can get a decent product shipped fastest.

 

As long as he isn't putting others at risk.
