Figured I’d post an issue I’ve been dealing with the last couple of weeks that’s been driving me mad.

I’ve had a very loud rattle coming from what seemed like the center speaker of the dash. Long story short, after hours of climbing into, under the dash the rattle was coming from the the plastic shroud that covers the windshield wipers. There is a rubber strip where that plastic meets the windshield. The rubber clips into a grove in the plastic piece. On my truck that rubber had popped out of the groove and was rattling against the windshield over every bump over 20mph.

I put a little glue onto the rubber strip and pushed it back into its groove and the rattle is gone.

@19crewmaxTRD can you share some pictures of where you applied the glue?

Don’t mind the glue that I haven’t finished cleaning up yet. You can see where the rubber runs along the windshield, about a 1’ section had popped out of the groove that is in the plastic and was rattling against the windshield.

Just one of the many rattles and creaks that plague the Tundra once its cold .Been dealing with them since fall of 2017  .Love the truck, hate the cheap materials and fit on most of the dashboard and windshield trim.

I have been looking for a rattle inside for a month. Thought it was related to some wiring I did.

Today I shoved a trim tool in-between the glass and cowl. Rattle gone.

Now I have to figure out how to fix it.

I’m glad I was able to help you guys out. I searched this forum for dash rattles hoping for leads and came up empty, that’s why I made this thread. As for tundras being noisy with rattles and squeaks, my truck has always been dead quiet that’s why this rattle was driving me crazy.

This is awesome. I’ve been searching for a rattle for months with no luck. It’s been driving me mad, almost to the point of getting rid of my truck. I will give this a try. Thanks

I do have a similar problem. The rattle in my case seems to come from inside dash area. It is more loud in cold weather and in bumpy roads.
    Any suggestions we’re to lock?

I've been chasing rattles ,creaks ,clunks etc since i got mine in 2017. I've fixed most, but new ones seem to appear as time goes on.Cheap plastic attached to metal with no barrier between them is a recipe for all this aggravation .

Mine rattles here too but it is about a 4-inch section where the cowl meets the windshield where the rubber is not tight against the windshield like the plastic cowl is slightly warped. I will have to look at it closely as maybe the rubber has popped off like yours but it doesn't initially look like it. The red mark is where mine is at. I might have to get a piece of door edge guard or similar to put in there or I might try a small bead of silicone.

Aha! Thanks for this recommendation. Mine's coming from inside the cab (I know because I can push on it and make it do the *doink* sound lol) and wedging some NVH or stuff in there makes it stop. I'm going to have the dealership look @ it and put some more foam underneath, but this is a backup fix if ever I need it. :)

I am not quite sure what is the best way to fix mine. It is only a 4-inch strip that is rattling against the windshield but the rubber is in place there and fine. It is like the plastic is just slightly warped and allowing enough play to rattle. I thought about trying a bead of silicone under the rubber piece or taping it off on the windshield side and putting a bead against the rubber and windshield and pulling the tape to make it nice and even.

Any ideas. Oh, and is it bad if it isn't perfectly sealed and rain gets in there? Any water should just do down and out the sides I would think?
