At the dealership for an alignment and radio upgrade. I was just quoted an issue with my front brakes that were pulsating for new rotors and four caliper pins $670. Yikes!

Parts and labor ain't cheap, that's for sure. Was this pulsing something you noticed and had a concern about though, or a "tech find". Gotta be leary of those upsells. Sincerely, a former mechanic. Lol

I understand how the economy works.
I told them I was getting some shaking at low speeds, and I was in there for an alignment. I told them I was getting some shaking at low speeds and I was in there for an alignment. They found this issue and said my emergency brake was sticking. The E brake service would be around 700. I also understand how dealers charge much more than an independent garage. I can get a complete brake job new rotors- works in the mid 400’s

I got most normal maintenance done at my dealer on my 09 Crewmax because they were reasonable just for that and the shuttle was convenient but got significant repairs done at one of a couple independent shops. When I needed significant brake work at both ends including front caliper replacement the Toyota dealer came in at over 1200 for stuff my shop quoted about 800 for.

Your dealer service dept is a profit center for a larger operation where some other
Components can sometimes lose money. Independent mechanic does not have to do that. That's the real difference maker.
