Were you able to figure out a solution to the volume control issue?

I called Toyota numerous times and the answer I got was that best case scenario you need to have the radio flashed. Worst case you need it flashed and a new DCM. They said the communication from 8 inch to 14 inch is different.

Hi, I have recently been able to get AMPLE experience in this subject. So this is for everyone. To swap from the 8” screen to 14” screen, you need to make sure you do not buy the JBL head unit. It contains the JBL amp and will not let you adjust volume down from max. 14” screens are for sale on eBay. Find no JBL sticker on the screen. Secondly, if you get a used 14” screen head unit, and place it in your vehicle, that head unit will become blacklisted. Because the vin is locked with that head unit to another vehicle. Your head unit assigned to your vin can become blacklisted as well. If you get a new head unit/screen then you must use TechStream from Toyota to synchronize that screen/head unit to your VIN. If you do not have the VIN synced then you will not be able to use the Toyota remote connect features on your vehicle. No start/stop from the app, no unlock/lock from the app. But the 14” screen CarPlay and everything else will work fine. Just your Toyota profile will not be in the truck anymore.
