That's a good price for a tire you need, now, want is another different story altogether.....lol
I am still trying to convince myself to do it now or do it in April....
I know the discount will not be there then, but sitting it three weeks gives me the quacks.....

I know, so I kinda did what you did there, I went actually found a cheaper price for the tires I wanted, and Discount Tires price-matched it.
DT had it for $246.21 per tire, Walmart.com had it for $176
    upload_2023-2-20_15-33-50.jpgupload_2023-2-20_15-35-4.jpg

DT "Find it Lower" came back with $176 per tire offer to gain business, I took the email to my local store and they put in an order for me for 4 tires, so tires alone I save $280, cause I can't combine with the $110 off promo but I am getting a better deal so I am ok.
Now gotta wait for it to arrive in the store and then find time for install, I think install final price is like $820 give and take $20-ish, with insurance on it would be a tad over $1000 (I think $1020 or something like that). I opt to pay when installed so I got time to think whether I want to add insurance on it. Houston roads are crap, and I don't overland, so I am not sure if getting the insurance would be worth it.

Better to have it and not need it kinda thing...I've always bought the certs. Wish they were like the aftermarket warranty where if you don't use it they'd refund it

Was there last weekend getting new tires fro my wifes car. 628 OTD for Michelin Defender2s. With the Michelin discount they were less than the OEM Hankooks that wore out in 40K miles. Then there was the 5% veteran discount. Ordered tires on Friday and set up for the next Saturday install. Manager called me Friday afternoon and said they were there so took it in the next morning.

Bonus for me, the shop is next to the Krispie Kreme.

Any larger tires are looking to be hard to find and cost a pirate's booty.

Passenger and smaller LT rubber seems much more doable.

I get the insurance of it :might: happen, but hey, that also gives me a chance to change out another tire....lol
These days, SUV tires will be more the norm than what trucks are gonna use, especially when trend goes bigger than 20" rim or some even go 35/37 higher, those are not "norm" nor do they wear that quickly to warrant mass production just to sit there. I mean, you would not want a tire that has a production date of a few years back just because there is not enough demand.
Charles, I saw that from DT quote, you had a "trade-in" tire, mind sharing what that one is?
I have a mind of keeping my set (sub 20k miles factory set) and maybe sell it online for other's backup, I mean, it ain't great, but in a jiffy it could come in handy, or to trash it over a trail weekend and call it a day....

That was just his way of accounting for the Instant Rebate on Toyo tires.

I'd have still had to buy them online to get that, but he put it on there to show me a bottom line price.

My store had no problem matching the online rebate in store, but the website was also being a bitch about the tire size on my truck, and also couldn’t add certs. They took care of all of it.

The guy in the store, who was super cool and we talked about how both of us can't wait on buying stuff for trucks which is how he ended up with a brand new SxS (then told me the place he bought it for a damn good deal), said they used to be able to do it in-house but some folks were abusing it so Corporate slapped em on the wrist.

Can’t have nothin nice. My sales guy did have to do some checking with his GM on a couple parts, so maybe that’s why, dodging the corporate bs.

I was recently on the Discount Tire website and they don't seem to be publishing a mileage warranty any longer.

Above there is a screen shot for Pirelli Scorpions, showing a 70K warranty.

When I just checked, the 70K part is missing.

BF Goodrich isn't on the discount. Bummer.

Getting to the point where I just order online with free shipping and have Walmart mount them for 5.00 each. Since I run Centramatic wheel balancers and no wheel weights needed...send it.

I didn't know how much it was to mount it at Walmart, but yea, I am not sure if I trust them to put it on. Granted, I don't run $2K rims, but still, those blacked out TSS set is doing fine and having scratches on it would send my OCD through outer space....

Well, to be honest, Discount has scratched a rim or two of mine in the past. Difference is, they'll fix or replace. One location even messed up a center cap but had a replacement ready to be picked up within a week.

As much as their name scares me, "discount" you know..... equals to cheap and other names....
But yea, if they are able to make it right, that's what plays well in my books.
Wife's tires is from Costco and honestly? It is doing just fine, so no issue with taking it to DT just because.
Plus, Costco is weekly run, gas and stuff, so if tires need rotate/work, I just budget in the additional time and get a chicken bake....

I avoid Costco like the plague. The only one close to us is always packed and it's a zoo. No thanks. The liquor store on the other hand...and I don't need to be a member.

I avoid it on certain day/time combo, I also know when the delivery truck gets there, so I do my runs usually a. day after delivery (give them time to reshuffle) and b. during low time, usually I am in and out quick, gas too.
Otherwise, I try not to go near it when it is super crowded, cause I will be parking super into the backside to avoid idiots.

So I finally have it installed on Saturday, due to some labor shortage and lack of time, but anyway, it is on now.
First view, damn those are some ugly tires, but it is more compared to the whole truck rather than just the tires themselves, which are fine.
Even my wife was like, I think those are too skinny and might burn out soon hello love? You complained about the AT tires and now you complain about the street tires?), but I am not running F1 where I do tire change every 50-100 miles (I wish)
But, that all aside, those tires run good, and are very quiet once you are around highway speed, or anything about 50mph really. On the low end it does tend to be pretty loud comparing, but once you are up to speed, it is surprisingly quiet, compared to my factory OEM AT tires, so quiet that I can actually hear the engine clearly for once....

Overall, $706+labor+tax I land a tad north of $860, but I think I am ok with it, will run it for at least 45K and then we will see, might have to go back to AT tires.....
