this isn't where i wanted to be and just thinking about it makes me incredibly depressed. however, i need to have as many options as possible.

    2016 sr5 crewmax
    ~58,500 miles
    lots of goodies

pelican cargo box, fridge, tred boards and all recovery gear included

    things it needs:
    - 60k service
    - tires (5, current nitto trail grapplers have 45k on them and are almost done)
    - alignment
    - new inverter (wiring is in place, just needs connected and the breaker flipped)

there is some rust on one swing out of the rear bumper. might be salvageable with a sand blast and new powder coat. swing outs definitely could use new bearings from expedition one. they're a little sticky.

yes, i am aware this would take a very specific buyer but i'm sure one exists. just looking for a ball park number on where to price it as i really have no idea.

i am not officially posting for sale just yet.

I traded my 2019 SR5 with Falcon suspension, coachbuilder shackles, bed liner, scs wheels, good tires, rci dkids and sliders. It had 41K miles. Trade in was $37,000. They marked it for sale $44K+ and it was gone in a week. That was Texas at tge end of November, so market may play into it.

You can compare yours to what I traded and get an idea of what you can shoot for.

Is there anything I can do to help? PM if needed.

As annoying as it is, take as much off as possible to sell on CL or Marketplace...you'll get the same price likely from a dealer if it was near stock or modded.

given what's been done to it, backing out the mods is not possible.

hoping it won't be the case. this is a last resort measure.

This makes me a little sick to my stomach.

This seems like something good to post on IH8MUD also.

Sounds like life is kicking you in the gut at the moment. Hope it all works out. Good luck man.

    My process would be this:

Add up my total cost to build out the truck.
    Cry over the total number.
    Get it together.
Likely cry at least one more time.
Then dig deep down and ask myself: "how much am I willing to lose on my 'investment'?" (we all know its not an investment)
Most folks get 30-50% back of their initial cost in mods.
    Cry about the above realization.
Price it $7-10k higher than that number to give room to negotiate.
Ask a mod to delete this thread once I decide that way if It's listed for sale on this website no one comes here and finds out my bottom dollar.

Take a bit of a drive, go to like Idaho or somewhere, find a bank that is used but not in a big city, make a "withdrawl", and keep your wonderful Tundra since some options should have changed.

I know this isn't realistic but its almost like telling you to play the lottery. Sucks to see you contemplating this, I've had to think about selling my truck a few times over the past couple years. The main reasons I didn't 1) every time I got close to selling, I'd need a truck and I'd want what I have. Which I also wouldn't be able to replace 2) normally I'd stress enough about not wanting to lose the truck that I'd manage to find a way to make it work

Either way, you have to do what you have to do. This community will support and continue to be here even if you don't drive a Tundra.

Whatever a 16 SR5 with 64k miles on it is worth is what yours is worth. It's not an option for those that want a stock truck, as yours is not. Whatever you paid in mods, cut that at least in half. If someone wants a unique truck just like yours, that's likely what they will pay. No one is going to give you all of your money back in mods. It is a beautiful truck and shouldn't be hard to sell where you live.

There’s a dude on YouTube and Instagram with a name similar to like overland chef or something. He had a really expensive build on his tundra and was selling it for some time. I saw yesterday on someone’s page that the truck sold, and I had last heard that the asking price was over 60k.

take my info with a grain of salt because I was mildly interested at best when hearing about it, but those are the facts as best I can remember. Having said that, it was for sale for a long time as you and he are looking for a very specific buyer who has more disposable money than they have time and passion to build their own truck.

best of luck and hope you can find out more about his truck so you can price yours accordingly.

fishkill is a trek. especially with the current price of gas.

but, this latest round of interviews may be going better than i thought. i did 3 interviews with a company 2 weeks ago (screen, director of r&d and vp of sales) and heard nothing but crickets. 20 min ago an email popped in asking me to schedule a half day practical interview with their engineering team. so, maybe i'm still in the running. i just have to not crash and burn on the practical...

I always respect a man who is willing to do what it takes to provide for his family and make ends meet when things are rough, even if it means selling something with a lot of history and memories attached. It's just stuff, but sometimes we've lived a lot of life with it, as it seems that you have with your Tundra. It's not easy.

We're all rooting for you and hoping you can keep your truck.
