So, probably the dumbest feature Toyota has invented, is killing the engine when the doors are unlocked after remote start. Love my truck, but Toyota dropped the ball with this idea. Any word if Toyota will ever fix?

Toyota has been doing this for years, I don't think they are going to change that.

My last F350 was the same. Won’t start unless hood is closed and all 4 doors are locked. Unlock the doors it shuts down

Must be some kind of automotive or safety standard, my Mercedes also turned off when I opened the door after remote starting.

Probably right. My wife’s old Chevy would shut down if you tried to put it in gear, but you could get in it lol

That would be awesome. Shutting off the engine is just stupid, it won't go anywhere without the key fob anyway. Expected better from Toyota.

i got into an internet fight yesterday on the installers forum(wanted no part of it) with a guy claiming to be a design engineer with toyota. he was a total arrogant a-hole, and also thought he knew it all. kept claiming these systems i built were full of errors, and I proved him wrong everytime. then he just got even more rude and couldn’t accept defeat. sadly it gave me some insight as to what goes on in that dept at toyota and it wasn’t great :(

This sucks, but it is just one of those things that is that way it is because Mr. Toyoda says that's how it will be. The end. You can always install an aftermarket DEI or Compustar system to get around this... and to eliminate the need for the Toyota app or service.

Such an annoying feature. My 19 Mustang allows me to take over….

I’ll just be quiet now….. whoever designed this should not be allowed to procreate.
