Hey everyone I have been searching high and low for a Tundra. As everyone knows it’s hard as hell to find quality used vehicles in todays market, but I finally found one that fits my budget. The maintenance records seem decent, they did appropriate oil change intervals at Toyota dealership. One thing that kind of makes me hesitant and wanted to ask all of you, it was a one owner commercial vehicle. I know some will advise against any commercial vehicle, but this one seems to be very clean. Thoughts on this truck? I’m checking it out tomorrow.

Commercial use may or may not be an issue. However, since it has averaged ~9,200mi/yr, this is less of a concern especially if it has all maintenance records. Be prepared for the cost of all maintenance schedule items that have not been done.

As with any used vehicle, I strongly suggest you invest the $ in having a professional service/mechanic give it a complete inspection, including review of any and all TSB and recalls. My most recent was less than $200, and was done at the delership.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the reply and the information. I agree it’s definitely going to need service for the differentials, transfer case, transmission fluid changed, as the service history has no records of that, and are close/over the service intervals for some things. I will definitely have it looked at without a doubt can’t be to careful. Luckily my step mother works at a Toyota Dealership and can help me out with a vehicle inspection etc. thanks again the feedback is appreciated!

That looks really clean regardless of the use. Little wear you would expect for personal use, let alone commercial.

Looks real clean. Don’t forget to check under the Berliner for bed rust.

Really similar find to mine last year. Check out the front end for where a snow plow could attach and see if that was the "commercial use" aspect of its history. If so, I'd run the other way.

I agree I install snow plows haha so I know the abuse most trucks get from them! Honestly it’ll be one of the first things I look for, thanks for looking I appreciate it!

Is it the photos or does the front end seem a little low especially for a 4 x 4? Like others have stated have YOUR mechanic give it a good look!

I doubt it was used for plowing since it has that bull guard on. But you never know. Could have pulled a landscape trailer for a company and only used in season

Hmm the front end doesn’t seem any lower then my fathers 2015 tundra 4x4, I could be wrong though. Thanks for pointing that out, I’ll could double check that. I would more than likely put a leveling kit in the front anyhow.

Hey just thought of this since these trucks are known to have the overhead cam leak, what should I look for and did your truck develop the leak or currently have the leak?

    Tastefully enhanced...
This a good looking truck and had surely been taken care of. Look through the fence well towards the engine on each side for old oil what the heads meet the engine block and a little higher yet what the head sandwiches together... look from to in engine bay at each front of head and bring a mirror to look on the back of the head towards the firewall. You'll see it if it has the can tower leak...

For a MA vehicle, ask for frame pics or make sure you inspect the crap out of it. Im up in Maine and ended up buying a KY vehicle and shipping it because the two dozen local ones I looked at were rotted to hell.
Also checking the condition of the bed and hitch will give you an idea of how it was utilized or taken care of. I turned a few trucks down because the ears for the trailer chains were bent (how tf?), bed was dented to hell, etc. The ass end looks high in the pics so it may have been used to hauling or towing a lot. Just my .02 and personal truck-hunting experience. Good luck!

Satin black roof, 18” KO2’s, satin black powder coated steel rims, tri fold tonneau cover. Led lights interior, exterior. Trd pro grill. 13” ryonnair antenna. OEM LED headlights.
That’s the same mileage I had on my truck when I bought it in December. As mentioned above, check the underside for rust and evidence of undercoating. I had mine oil sprayed literally the day after I picked it up, living in Ontario, Canada they use salt and brine quite a bit up here. Weekly washes and undercoating are a must in the winter. I would also change all the fluids if there is no evidence of those records. I had tranny, coolant, F&R diff, transfer case oil all replaced at Toyota and it was $600, 1.5hrs. The truck looks very clean! As did mine when I went to go see it. I also changed the engine air filter, and plan on replacing the front brakes soon. Knowing these trucks go forever was one of my main reasons for buying one.
